On sunday dec 21st, I celebrated my 18th birthday together with 6 of my buddies.
I brought together 4 HDTVs, 4 PS3s and 4 copies of Resistance 2.
We spent 24 hours (slept for an average of 4 hours pr. person) gaming primarily Resistance 2 coop, but a good amount was spent on LittleBigPlanet too.
I am happy to tell you all, that if this hadn't been a great success, I wouldn't have made this thread. We had an awesome time playing both LBP, R2, MS:PR, GT5P, GTA4 and various PSN games.
On Resistance 2:
The singleplayer was good, nothing wickedly awesome, but it certainly had its moments. The competetive multiplayer is also okay, but nothing I would play for extended periods of time (I generally don't like competetive multiplayer, other than at LAN events).
But I hadn't played the coop more than a couple of times before my birthday, so when I found out that sitting 6 guys playing is in fact wickedly awesome, I was a very happy man. My only gripe with it was that after having played it for extended periods of time, we knew how every scenario in the Chicago area would play out. I haven't gotten beyond California yet, but if it remains that way through out all the maps, Insomniac will have something they can improve on for R3. But even so, I still think that it is really awesome.
On LittleBigPlanet:
I don't have any gripes with this game we haven't already talked about to death or heard from in reviews (layer navigation can be annoying from time to time, a little crowded with 4 players etc.). This game is still a diamond in gaming to me. So much in fact, that one of my buddies, who is an avid PC gamer, has just ordered himself a PS3 (included: LBP, Uncharted and Motorstorm: Pacific Rift). He is interested in getting R2 as well, so we can get some more coop going.
If anybody ever thought of doing a LAN event with PS3s, Resistance 2 coop is an absolute blast, and when you need to break it up a bit, play some LBP, and whatever other games you might have. I can only recommend this sort of thing!
