Prince of Persia is great. The graphics and gameplay are both innovative. I do not understand people who say the only innovation is that you can't die. I think they are not paying attention. The idea is you don't have to wait 15 minutes for the title screen and several button presses to load the last save (I am looking at you TLR).

IF you don't like the difficulty level ask for hard and extremely hard modes from designers DON'T assume everyone is as masochistic as you are.

The gameplay is far simpler than what even the original PoP had. It's not the fact you can't die, I love that mechanic thoroughly, it's the fact that this game has one of the worst platforming mechanics ever. If I'm anywhere near a ledge and press A, the prince automatically makes a jump, auto starts walking on a wall, and then I have a 3-4 sec time to push A again to jump to a pole, then I press A again to jump to another wall, and he auto runs up it then I just press A again to jump off THAT wall, and this continues to go and on. It's boring and it's not an innovation, it's a HUGE step backwards, in fact, the game is behind Super Mario Bros. in platforming gameplay imo. Thank god it has such decent graphics otherwise it would have been utter crap.

Honestly Vlad, if they gave you any more control over the platforming, it probably would have made the game far too difficult for most people. As it is, most people that beat it die over 200 times. That's a lot for a game.

Honestly I died a lot more because of the game doing things on its own.

The game played itself

By innovation do they mean make it impossible to die?

I read about this. In a way, you kinda due die. Elika takes you back a bit. They just did this to keep the pace going instead of:

Dead > "Game Over" screen > "Would you like to continue?" Prompt.

Or the

Dead > Magically Pop up a few paces or so back in time.

I'm just dissappointed that while there are gamers like the ones in this site that are happy to see new things and ideas coming to gaming, the mass majority or people really don't care that much and just want the game they heard was cool.

A: "Hey, check this out"
B: "What is it? Is that a First person platform??"
A: "Yea, I'm buying it, it looks cool. Something different than the usuall"
C: "They have the new Call of Duty game here aswell".
B: "Awesome, think I'm going to spend my money on that instead, the last one was awesome"
A: " Don't you wanna try something new??"
B: "Meh, that game you showed me was pretty cool, I'll wait to see how many people buy it... yea, I'm sure that's how alot of people deside these things. I'll just go with what everone else goes with."
A: "@_@.... if too many people take that way... then.... ah screw it...."

Yes, I played through the entire game and I'm EXTREMELY disappointed.

@Onyx

Look, I'm not asking them to make a button so that you control each hand and each leg individually, but I don't want the game to do everything for me. I found Warrior Within and Two Thrones the best. You had to press a button if you wanted to do a wall run instead of just hitting a wall, you had to acually AIM where you jump, there were the dhaka parts in WW and stealth kills in TT which really pushed the timing part, also there were the hallways of death and frustration filled with things that would make a cow into grond beef in seconds that REALLY spiced things up,the combat was FAR more satisfying and indepth than repeating just 1 combo endlessly, overall the games were absolutely GREAT, this however is no better than that flash game where you can only press 3 buttons as a square and you need to avoid the on coming traffic by moving at the right time. Even that game is easier since you eventually have to have soe ridiculous relexes really soon, in PoP I never had to do anything, except on that one plate that made me run along walls. Reaching those plates made me extremely excited and in retrospect that's kind of sad.

They took away waaaay too much control from the game up to the point where it's all jsut one RE4 action cutscene, if I wanted to watch the game develop by having minimal if any input from me I'd just go watch a movie. I hear those graphics even surpass what the PC can push.

They reinvented PoP game way too soon, they should have left the franchise alone for another couple years.

I'm ALWAYS up for a good platformer, especially a PoP type (except PoP 3D, was that a pile of shit), however they made the new one about as deep as a game of Simon Says. That's my problem with the new one. I also hated the prince this time around, seemed far less developed than the last one, but that's just a minor problem that didn't really affect my liking of the game as much.

P.S. The double jump in this game has to be one of the WORST mechanics implemented in ANY game EVER. The person who came up with it deserves to be fired instantly, and to never be employed in any development eam again.

They need to realize New IPs follow different sales patterns than regular old ips....

An easy example is comparing Super Smash Bros to SSBB... SSB had a much slower start, but still had steller sales.

or even gears 1 to gears 2. Or even the Halos, or GH to GH3... I think if a game is true quality it will sell over time, PoP has been out what? 3 weeks? They need to let the word of mouth work. I think PoP will survive the Holidays, and have good lifetime sales totals.

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

That's what you get for releasing every single game within a 2 month time frame.
They get lost in the mass.
Someone need to remind developers that there are 12 months in a year...

This.
