While I do agree with you that calling this a "troll thread" is a bit harsh, the idea of questioning the identity of the wii console as being a "gadget" and not a video game console is a bit ridiculous.....

 

Of all the consoles this generation, the Wii is the console that can be the closest to a video game machine in general terms. That doesn't mean the PS3 or the 360 are not video game machines....they just do so much that to a regular consumer, the Wii is the closest to it...

I mean, after 2 years of complaining from other fans that the Wii can't do anything but play games, now the editorial has to question that as well?

I'm sorry but Nintendo doesn't have to appeal to the rigid terms that the "hardcore," or what I would like to call as the "rigid-minded veterans," when it comes to doing their business. They make their games that appeal not to "everyone else" but to "everyone but the rigid-minded." Therefore, they are a video game company that make video games for a video game console. Not a gadget, but a console.

The Wii obviously isn't a NEXT GENERATION CONSOLE because it has been on the market for over 2 years now and is therefore a CURRENT GENERATION CONSOLE.

You see here's the problem with you and the guy who wrote the article.  You think because you feel that way that everyone else does.  And its not the truth.  I don't need my 360.  I ahve it so I can play Xlive with my friends and RE5 the day it comes out.  Other than that its a bonus add on for my Wii which is my main console.  Yet you don't hear me bashing the 360 or saying it's a toy or gadget and the Wii is the only console for core gamers.  And I'll be damned if someone like you or someone like him is going to tell me I'm less of a gamer because of it.  You see that's when you really start to piss me off.  STOP ACTING LIKE YOUR OPINION IS THE ONLY ONE.  Some people like the Wii as a main console and some don't.  Who gives a shit which one is dominant.  Play what ya like and let the other gamers play what they like.  But have some god damn respect for the people that have supported this industry from the beginning and got it to where its at.

I read the article and wrestled back and forth on whether it was stepping over any lines that would lead it to mainly just be flamebaiting. I wasn't sure until the very end here. I quote from the article...

This isn't Survivor, you get no immunity just for saying you love Nintendo. This thread is what it is.

Besides, being a fan of Nintendo doesn't mean you can post flamatory things towards the Wii, nor does it make it acceptable.

If you really think that you making this thread was okay, or even a good idea, then I don't know what to think.

The Wii is more gaming console than the HD ones. Seeing as how it's all about the games. Not movies, music, internet HDDs or whatever. Games. As in videogames.

I hope you're speaking of Nintendo and not yourself in this sentence.  According to your proffile and your age, I've been gaming longer than you're ALIVE!  So, have some god damn respect for someone whose seen Nintendo in their glory days, supported them through their rough times and is now pissed off for being cast aside in favor of the casual crowd.

Mandatory titles? What the hell does that mean? Maybe you should loosen up and play something that doesn't come with a damn mandate then.
