Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Atack ads won't work against Nintendo this gen?

If you have no argument all you can do is attack. Just listen to the corporate "adults" at MS and Sony explain why Nintendo is not this and not that. Ahh so why are you copying the marketing, game genre and accessability techniques then?

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

To be honest Sony's PR and Advertising are not very good this generation. They advertise the PS3 as a blu rady player, and their adverts for games like LBP havent been very impressive, they have struggled to create a successful media campaign for the PS3.

But i dont think negative marketing would have any impact on the Wii, MS and Sony tried to dismiss the Wii but that had no effect whatsoever.

I think Nintendo has had it much worse than Disney have for keeping children safe.

What is happening today with the Wii only goes to show how wrong these competitors actually were.

NikkoM:

That's not really relevant to the discussion at all nor constructive we could go back and forth with You Tube videos for days:

i don't think attack ads will work that well. the reason it worked so well for sega was sega could do everything nintendo could do AND MORE!!!

with the current gen it is more of a "wouldn't you prefer to give up one feature in favor of a different feature??"

until sony/ms can match the wii's features (ie motion controls) then there isn't much leverage to attack on.

Companies these days don't do attack ads because they have their fanboys to do the attackin'.

I know.. but it's the only attack ads we have.. we know it's parody so it's funny.. but if they were real.. they are arrogant..

Just one with the 360 to make it complete... xD..
