I doubt it is true. I also hope it is untrue. But if it is true, it will be interesting to see how badly Monster Hunter destroys Resident Evil in sales.
Not that I see either game doing poor in retail.

Maybe its just me, but I don't see RE5 cracking a million on a single platform in Japan. Maybe combined, but even that is a stretch. So if this is true, I don't think MH would "steal" sales from RE5, MH is just a better seller in Japan.
Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:
If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.
If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.

Then tehy will buy a Wii and get MH3 instead of RE5. Ohhh yes... they love Monster Hunter that much.
RE 5 wont even sell well in Japan so i dont see how is that a problem. MH on the other hand will sell amazingly.
Capcom doesn't care because RE5 will sell way more in the US

Are new games really 8800 Yen? I thought that they were more around 6800.....or is this one more expensive because it's a huge game in Japan?

I'd have to go with this. It's like Sega releasing Bayonetta, and Madworld the same day. just cause they are on different systems doesn't mean they won't poses a threat to each other. =/
