Wow, I hate nintendo for its Wii and making me waste my time half of last gen on the gamecube and not the PS2 but damn...

Even though i deem nintendo as Blasphemers of gaming companys, there is no reason at all for me as an Anti-Wii gamer to not congradulate this.

Awesome job nintendo, in my opinion it has no games i personally dont enjoy but... i guess Money and Cost to talk overall, which is why sony is getting but-secks from ninty. :P

Even PSP is not fairing nearly aswell as i thought it would X-Mas 09... Even with titles like Dissidia Around the cornor, just Wow........

this current week estimating 600k

19.43M

the last final week of 2008 which is the upcoming week

700k estimating

It does?  Unless it can sell over 1 million next week, it won't hit 20 million in 2008.

 

 This week's sales = 600k (this week being the CURRENT WEEK WE ARE IN)

the last week which is next week should see more than that, so its likely

 

leo, it's coing to need 1.2 million from next weeks sales to do that.

 

Notice how sales are either not doing as good as last year or are barely keeping up with it?  That trend doesn't suggest the PS3 can sell 1.2 million units next week.  Sure, it will be close to 20 million but that won't actually happenuntil 2009.

That means 2 things, but neither of them is "the Wii had the worst 2008 lineup."

1) The majority of gamers don't care about Metacritic ratings.

2) Game reviewers really prefer shiny games, whether they sell or not, and whether anybody else likes them or not.

Game reviewers are obsolete.  Don't bother with Metacritic.  Develop your own tastes.  You don't need those nerds to tell you what is good.

 

leo, do you enjoy games that aren't AAA?  What are the lowest-rated Metacritic games you enjoy?

Metacritic shows how in step reviewers are with the PS3/360 and you can see a clear causation between high reviews and high sales.

Metacritic also shows out out of step reviewers are with the Wii and you cannot see a clear causation between high reviews and high sales. Both Wii-Fit and Mario Kart scored 80s and yet they sold in the 10s of Millions.

I agree with that, but it makes it impossible to compare PS3/360 game reviews with Wii game reviews.

The original Super Smash Bros. is only a 79.  I guess it's not a good game.  Thanks for clearing that up.  Same for Metal Slug Advance, Breath of Fire, Heavenly Sword, Eternal Sonata, Mario Strikers Charged, Geomery Wars: Galaxies, Echochrome, and Blue Dragon.  All 79. None of them are good games.  And Mega Man 9 is even worse than all of those, at 78.

I think the general consensus is that everything over a 70 is considered "good". Really, reviews should only be used as a guide.
I don't think anyone convinces themselves that one game is better than another just becuase it has a slightly higher average score.
