Forums - Nintendo - Phantasy Star IV is on the Virtual Console!

So.... is it all that and a bag of chips? I do like RPGs and I have heard good things, but I want to know if it's worth my money.

well you see this is my 2nd favorite genesis game i am sooo tempted to buy it but sega flipped me the bird when they announced that collection for ps3/360 and not for wii(ok kinda off topic i know)

anyway if you have no problem spending the money yes...it is a fantastic rpg

It's an old school JRPG. As in the difficulty is not forgiving. It's not as punishing as the second game, but expect a lot of grinding.

Otherwise the game is pretty good. That was just a warning of what to expect.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Bold 1: I was getting my hopes up

Bold 2: Then you let me down :(

Honestly the second is my favorite, it's hard, it's fun, and everything from the music to the characters are entertaining.

I'm currently playing it on my Wii. One of the best JRPG I ever played.
IMO the only JRPG ( maybe with PS II ) for Genesis that can match up with the best JRPG production on the Snes.

Only downside is if you are european like me. Genesis pal games are pitiful ( not only slower framerate but also slower music ) and unfortunatly VC emulation is faithful to the original release.

Easily worth 8$ .

All right. I will very seriously consider buying it, then...

And I don't mind grinding. I'm playing the original Dragon Quest and it is the bee's knees.

The best Phantasy Star game was 2. Three and four were disappointments.

Cool, I'm getting it on the compilation for 360. ~_n

Phantasy Star 2 was the best, then 4, 3 sucked and 1 was meh.

You know. I don't think I've played a phantasy star game as sad as that is.
