Is this it?

This is old news in context and there are many other threads on this.

Also the title is somewhat 'baiting' IMHO.

OT I'm amazed that so many people seem surprised or think there's something going on here with Sony and MM that is unfair.

One of the things that fascinates me about LBP, that contributes to why I think its GOTY and is just amazing when you think about it, is that it delivers a YouTube ability to post content, with the added bonus of giving you the tools to create the content.

Guess what - in a monetary society with copyright and infringement laws (which are not totally clear TBH) there are conflicts with the desire of posters to have 100% freedom to post what they like, the hard reality they don't legally have it, and the fact that moderation is the inevitable result.

That's all there is to it. And for my money this makes LBP more interesting, innovative and good than a bucket full of nonetheless great games like Fallout 3, Gears 2, RFOM 2, etc, etc.

Now please can we quit with threads either implying LBP is a failure and gloating about it - it's really not mature certain 360 owners - or threads about how Sony and MM are 'evil' because they moderate.

Its the world we live in, not rules made explicitly by Sony and MM. Hell, think about it. I could post a Gears 2 LBP level (and as you can actually string levels together in LBP I could remake the entire game - with less violence and more cuteness admittedly).

And if Microsoft wanted to they could hit Sony and MM with a 'cease and desist' on the content - so guess what, when the content seems too close to the edge of our unclear copyright laws Sony and MM take the prudent choice and moderate it rather than risk something that could truly affect what LBP is trying to allow us to do.

I will say that, given the attention LBP receives it's clear, less sales or not, it's a title that's having a wider impact than most better selling sequels recently.

Oh, and did I mention it's great and sure to get GOTY in some lists and runner up in many others? It's just that good.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

Fraud. Makes me ashamed of living in Toronto.

"Media Molecule, he says, is "working with Sony all the time to improve these issues, and we're making very good progress... "rest assured, it will just keep getting better and better." - That's good news.

Toronto is awesome, well the Toronto Sun newspaper generally is just horid. The star has good points and bad points.

Globe & Mail/National Post reader meself.

I think some of the responses see a malicious intent in the OP that I don't see. I actually found this useful in finding out what LBP was all about. I'm not surprised that given the tools some will let their creative enthusiasm carry them over the edge to where legal issues might arise.

But overall I found the article positive and I was far more interested in this than anything else that is available on the PS3. Maybe not quite enough by itself to get me to purchase one but at least I was more open to the possibility.

The only way anyone could see this as negative has to be rooted in past experiences with an individual not with the content.

I, for one would like to applaud Gebx for constantly highlighting the PS3 in, from what I can tell, all of his posts. As the saying goes, there's no such thing as bad publicity!

"This is the deep-dish, delicious irony endured by the Nintendo stalwart: to see their platform of choice ascendant, even as their bright God turns his face away."

Tycho Brahe

I, for one, have no problem with this thread EXCEPT that the idea that something from the Toronto Star represents Canada!

That Paper in not exactly a gaming expert, nor is it really all that good of a paper, though it still beats the Montreal Gazette, and I am shame-faced to admit that Toronto is better that Montreal at anything.

Toronto is a City in Canada, but I all things is much closer to the US of A and opinions expressed from there do not represent all of Canadians.

In fact i would be willing to trade off most of southern Ontario For Alaska.

It should also be noted that Canada's Copyright laws are in fact Much laxer than the US of A's and there should be no problems on that front.

Lastly: why are people still talking about this game? Can we, as a people, not let it pass on into the realm of gaming obscurity? I think we can.

let Little Big Planet rest in peace, and sell what ever it wants.

wow, what a fun looking level.

In the above post I assume that LBP, and by extrapolation, all games are sentient.
Also the sales of said games are the decision of the game it's self.

So mayhap LBP just dose not want to sell? Not degrade herself to the level of such cheap whores as Halo and Mario cart? She knows she has a lot to give, but hey! She just is not that type of game?

I think that we can finally lay this to rest now, do not you agree? For her sake, if not for our own peace of mind.

@Haggy
I don't think this game is through by any means. To be selling 185,000 two months after release and 1.25m total is pretty good.

Better than Left for Dead (XB) and Resistance 2 (PS3). I think it has legs.
