Forums - Nintendo - Will we see an Infinity Ward COD on the wii?

This game is developed for xbox360 / PS3 / PC and it is highly successful.

So my question is, is it possible to port the game with a lot of downgrading (low costs) or do they need to start a completly new development because of the outdated hardware (higher costs)?

And CoD WaW selling 250k is not that great, especially compared to the Xbox360 or even PS3 numbers. That's where the money is.

I don't know why they should port or develop it for the Wii? They might make a very small profit at best, but why should they take the risk to not break even. Especially when they will make hundreds of millions with the Xbox360, PS3 and PC version?

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

I think we dont even need to do our part, 3rd parties still keeps ignoring the Wii even how much we convinced them. What we must do was to wait and see how it unravels. Cant wait till 2009 and 3rd parties kneel to their knees :)

You're like the mirror opposite Bruce on Games. You're just as nuts with your predictions of doom and gloom, but you just throw it in the other direction. You have nothing to back up your statements. We went over this in the other thread and you decided to back out instead of addressing the argument I put forth after you made the rediculous claim that GTA IV didn't turn a profit. Infinity Ward will be fine. COD4 sold probably close to 13 million after PC sales. Do you really think this is a developer that is going to "kneel down on their knees" by the time 2009 is done? Get real.

I do hope for a Wii version, and I do hope it's Infinity Ward making it and making it to the fullest of their abilities, but you using your want for the game to fuel these delusions are just rediculous.

OK, sure... maybe I will becoming realist on this post for once, and... NO, unless 3rd parties are desperate Wii will have gimped and downgraded ports of the PS360 versions of popular games such as COD even how much the userbase the Wii have grown. You even said it yourself in the other threads we're debating, HD gaming is the future. Have you seen the Q1 line up for 2009?

Lets just admit it, the doom and gloom scenario was the only way

edit: Come to think of it, just forget it. Lets just wait till 2009

If Infinity Ward knows whats right for them they should develop a COD game on the Wii version. Whether COD WAW flopped or not.

I'm guessing English isn't your first language. Just so you know, we don't do future tense that way.

Also the game didn't flop on the Wii. The development was for the entire multiplatform set, and that's already sold enough to make back the costs (the opening week for the PS3 and 360 versions combined to 2 million), since they used engines already made for 4 (even the DS version).

With the Wii version having sustainted sales, that's enough to convince Activision more Wii versions will sell.

I think 3rd parties will start to realise that wii can be the cash cow they need, not only via shovelware but with low(er) cost big name franchises. They can't afford to be another Factor 5 / Free Radical.

Still third parties will not buy it even their finances was in stake of it. 3rd parties should realized this in a hard way, Im keeping telling this but theres no other way it will take a miracle before 3rd parties will make serious on the Wii. AH OH YEAH, The Conduit, so after the conduit how many months more before 3rd parties announced something to develop because the conduit was a succesful FPS on the Wii. What third parties should do along time ago.

So how many copies of the wii version before Activision make back the cost of the Wii and DS versions. So do you mean theyre really make a profit on this game even its not finished selling?

By this logic the PS3 and 360 should never have a puzzle game, kids game, platformer, rpg, rail shooter or anything else that doesn't sell.

When you agree that this is fine, all you will have is 3rd/1st person shooters, and Wii will have the rest. I guess its a fair trade because i want LBP on wii and Rare back where it belongs

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

"So how many copies of the wii version before Activision make back the cost pf the Wii and DS versions. So do you mean theyre really make a profit on this game even its not finished selling?"

"The development was for the entire multiplatform set"

What part of that don't you understand? That means there was no separate cost for the Wii and DS versions.

all depends on how much wii version needs to sell to make a profit. if the project did make a profit then i see no reason in not doing a wii version. take shaun white snowboarding. just because it made more on wii than the HD version doesnt mean the series should be wii exclusive from now on

So... Treyarch made the PS360 and the Wii versions at the same time with the same development even cost? WHAT?!! I knew the Wii version uses the COD 4 engine but still should Treyarch still must encode and still develop the Wii version seperately? Even the PS3 version should still encode since the PC and the 360 was the main platforms.
