Apologies for only quoting the bottom 2 scores from metacritic so far, but I do trust EGM (who has 3 people review each game). 68 Electronic Gaming Monthly The game sabotages things right from the start by sticking you with four of the most vapid, unlikable protagonists I've seen in my 20 years as an RPG fan. [Sept 2007, p.94] 60 Edge Magazine Without characters to care for or a story compelling enough, only the most dedicated genre faithful will make it through Blue Dragon’s three discs. You also have a few sites giving it very high ratings, and the fam magizine gave it a 37/40. That and how can they give it a accurate rating even though its not even out |
They get sent the game most of the time ahead of launch. The games usually sit in stores for awhile before going on sale. Guitar Hero apparently goes out before street dates, though.
Anyway, I'm just saying there is reason to be skeptical of Blue Dragon. I can see why it's hyped since it is the only decent RPG so far (Japanese-style) on the next-gen platforms. I'd hold out for Eternal Sonata or Lost Odyssey, personally (if just considering 360).
This month is a great month for PSP and another PS2 RPG, Persona 3.
The PSP is also getting Dungeons and Dragons Tactics that got a good score from PSM. I'm hoping it's good. It's out on the 14th.
