Forums - Microsoft - Anyone else disappointed with netflix streaming?

^^^^ Three bars is probably due to my lower speed broadband connection (it's the cheapest one my phone company provides).

I've only ordered DVD's from Netflix. I haven't tossed in the extra $1 a month for the Blu-ray upgrade. They NEVER ship me a special edition DVD. I've always gotten the cheapest retail version possible!

I am not disappointed at all by the streaming quality of Netflix on the 360. I was watching The Office streaming in HD, and it looked just as good as it does on NBC HD. I was very impressed by that. I have a very fast broadband connection, so that helps. My friend in the city has a pretty low level broadband plan, so his video quality suffers a bit.

What I'm NOT impressed with is the selection. After I got sick of watching re-runs of The Office, a couple of other TV shows, and a movie or two, there was almost nothing else in their streaming library that I was interested in watching. I did not extend my Netflix account beyond the two week trial.

If I find out that the instant streaming selection gets significantly better, Netflix then becomes a no-brainer and I will happily sign up for the monthly membership.

I'll have to try more feeds... The small handful I watched were not pixelated but were "blurry" or "not quite focused". I'll try again. I am making some allowance for the fact that I'm watching it on an 84" diagonal screen which pushes 720P to the point of being just OK. I'll try in on my 42" LCD and see if it seems better...

It is smooth as silk, however, with a 6meg connection. 4 bars and no hiccups.

Also, I just assumed everything was an HD feed if there was an HD source such as on blu-ray. I'll go back and look at my queue and see if anything is actually HD or SD. That could very well be the issue as SD blown up to 84" looks like shit.

Netflix

People get pissed because their tentacle rape hentai doesn't show up quick enough.

Netflix is a service that allows people to rent an unlimited amount of porn for a flat-rate per month. The problem is that there were 16 year old girls who use the service for their Disney movies, and Netflix ditched the porn in favor of family-friendly fare.

Their slogan is simple: "We're Not Blockbuster." This creates rousing cheers from Netflix's loyal customer base, but pisses off Blockbuster's Republican investors.

Last Thursday, Netflix took over Wal-Mart's DVD-by-mail distribution system. This upset liberals who think that Wal-Mart is a slavery ring designed to take down the Communist system once and for all.

I must not be fully understanding... There just isn't much content that is HD quality when I do a search under genre "HD" under the instant watch tab. Also, I can't find anything anywhere that indicates if the feed is HD or not. Where in the description is it?

The HD feeds are very recent additions. They launched them when the NXE came out. I think only like 300 of the 11,000 or whatever amount of broadcasts are HD so 99% of the content is still going to be standard definition.

As far as selection goes it's not the most robust but I'm very happy with the options so far. I have about 50 movies in my instant quene and content with what's there.

I think it will continue to improve as time goes on. Before the NXE launched and Roku box the instant stream was really just a selling point for Netflix and not much more. I would imagine the usage of the service was very limited being restricted to PC only. With the bigger focus and now Blockbuster claiming to get in the ring of streaming it will exponentially improve IMO.

I too do not like the fact that they do not clearly show what is available in what format.

I'm very happy with it. I have not watched an HD movie on it yet, but I get DVD quality on the movies I've watched. I was actually quite impressed.
