I think it is possible, just not this year.

Say it has around the same sales next year. Or if it continues its increase in sales like it has the past 3 years it could very well happen. It has been having a better presence in Japan year over year and with games like Star Ocean 4, Resident Evil 5, Street Fighter 5, Ninja Blade, XBL will offer Anime show and movies download next year as well plus I'm sure a handful of other unannounced RPGs and other games that look pleasing to the Japanese I think we could see the 360 averaging 15k a week and well above that on launch weeks for big games.

I say it is possible, just not this year.

Last year it went 496k -> 566k which was a 14% improvement. 739k + 14% = 842k. It doesn't look that likely.

Those look like 2006 christmas sales ...

Just to shed some light

2006

Week before Black Friday - 192,524

Black Friday - 360,944

Jump -168,420

2007

Week before Black Friday - 230,817

Black Friday - 420,716

Jump - 189,899

2008

Week before Black Friday - 436,727

Black Friday - 775,302

Jump - 338, 575

I post the black friday numbers becausethey show the massive jump the 360 can get in one week. The Xbox 360 isn't at the top of everyones christmas like the Wii but it has a big presence this year. So if sales can reach 800k next week I think a 200k jump is very doable.

I think it has a shoot.

@seece: Yes, I made a mistake and took 2006 sales instead of 2007. I updated my post, the point stays unchanged...

As you can see, most platforms have ~15% jumps to pre-Christmas week.

You are confused, can you guess what you're getting wrong? ;)

2007

513k - PRE Christmas Sales

594k CHRISTMAS sales

2008

739K NOT PRE Christmas Sales

??? Pre Christmas Sales

??? CHRISTMAS sales

There are another lot of sales to come before the biggest sales week of the year comes.

So say it gets another 80k boost this week, that makes sales around 820K, whats 16% of 820K

I hope so

Just the 2006/2007 mistake as I said in the other reply. Anyway, the jump is about the same, so the answer is still "probably not" :P

EDIT- I saw your edit. 594k was the week ending 21st of December. The following week saw a drop, so I don't see how that affects this thread.
