They would notice if they go back to their regular tvs. Back in the days when I got a Snes, I instantly forgot how much better the gfx were in comparison to the old Nes.

B. Have no clue how to set one up.
C. Have very very very very bad eyesight.
D. Thinks cheap means chearful... no... bad consumer, bad
@ highwaystar, on 30" you can still see a difference. If I go into a TV store and look at the HD TVs, they look far far far better than the one I have at home
the biggest factor people seem to skip is how close you sit to the tv and such...that can play a huge part in picture quality

You can see a difference, I can on my 19" Samsung (I can't afford a real TV). But you will not get a full HD experience, it's pointless. If anyone is serious about HD then they should be looking at a big screen and not a poxy small one, the increase in detail over that of SD system of the same size is pointless in a small system.
I'm not shocked. My parents are well aware that you have to watch a different channel for HD vs. SD (say fox for example, 8 vs 855). But they can't tell which they are watching unless they look at the channel number.
I find it totally amazing that they can't, since it is night and day. I keep telling me they should just give me their 54" Sony Bravia, since it doesn't do them much good anyways

The TV at my girlfriends house isn't much better lol.
I agree 1200:1 I can't believe it either, didn't know they existed haha

This :P End Thread xD
Wait till TV's get bigger, and cheaper ^_^
Anything below 32' it's tough to tell between good upscale digital dvd, and High def.
Without an upscaler on a 32" or above god, your eyes are in for a world of hurt. Our cable boxes don't support HD and I literally can't watch tv sometimes >< The difference between 480 non upscaled and 1080 is just insane. I mean even more so than VHS -> DVD to me. Like... a ton more.
From 0 to KICKASS in .stupid seconds.
Actually I just found out my girlfriends TV is only 1000:1 lol

It depends on how far away you sit. I have a 32" tv and sit about 6-7ft away, so essentially I can fully enjoy my TV's 720p capabilities. Now, if I bought a 32" 1080p tv, then I would agree that it was a waste of money.
