Wii is dominating internet searches it seems.

U.K. Christmas Search Activity

Of the five leading gadgets selected for the study, the Nintendo Wii was the most searched for product in each of the three European markets. In the U.K., searches grew 64 percent versus the base period to nearly 2 million searches in the final week of November. Apple iPod came next with 1.5 million searches, followed by Microsoft Xbox 360 (1.3 million searches), and Apple iPhone (466,838 searches). Searches for the Apple iPhone were actually down 18 percent versus the base period, having peaked in the months immediately following the July release of the iPod 3G in the U.K.

French Christmas Search Activity

The Nintendo Wii was also the most searched product in France, growing 100 percent versus the base period to 1.4 million searches in the final week of November. The Apple iPhone generated 701,604, searches in the final week of November, followed by the iPod, with 685,016 searches. Meanwhile, the Xbox 360 received 405,919 searches compared to just 99,354 for the PlayStation 3.

German Christmas Search Activity

The Nintendo Wii was also the most searched product in Germany, with the number of searches growing 26 percent on the base period to 771,885 during the final week of November. The Apple iPod and iPhone also fared well, with 708,856 and 551,315 searches, respectively. Meanwhile, the Xbox 360 generated 512,344 searches while with PlayStation 3 attracted 134,610 searches.

"With Christmas now fast approaching, there has been a notable uptick in online searches for some of the hottest gadgets this season," said Herve Le Jouan, Managing Director, comScore Europe. "While Apple products such as the iPod and the iPhone are obviously high-interest products, it looks as though the Nintendo Wii will reign as the 'hottest' product on the market for the second consecutive year."

Of course, one has to take into account that Xbox 360 searches have a near 100% RROD rate. Probably half of these are duplicate searches from people who don't want to wait for Microsoft to replace/repair their original search.
