What N'Gai is saying is that going for the lowest common denominator -- or in this case the lowest common technology -- may be the quickest way to get the highest profits.
If you make something that a good percentage (40 percent?) of gamers can't play, you have pretty much "screwed the pooch" on potential profit. Last generation, you could make about the same thing for all three consoles. This time around, you have two HD consoles and one SD -- so you have to do more work for multiplatform. But the games that have done it have generally fared well. And if you make a good product, it will (eventually) sell on the Wii. (I added the eventually because the system has a different sales trajectory for many games, making people label as failure after one weeks games that often go golden or even platinum).

I am Mario.I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble. Wii Friend Code: 1624 6601 1126 1492 NNID: Mike_INTV |
