Forums - Nintendo - It's time for third parties to make Wii their lead platform

I don't think third parties ever will. 360 brought in more dough for third parties than PS3 and Wii combined this gen so far.

That´s not true. Sure 360 thirdpartysales are great but I know I´ve seen stats on thirdpartysales in America and Wii is selling the most with 360 runner up and PS3 last. It would be great if someone who sees this knows what I´m talking about could post it here. The bad third parties sales on Wii is a myth.

It can sell some third party games, but the question is how many of them are games like Ubisoft's shovelware Imagine series? It can sell those, but that's not going to lure Bethesda or Valve to all of a sudden make games for the Wii.

Nintendo tried having the best technology once before. The N64 wasn't as successful as the PS1. Deal with it, this is what happens and MS had to bite the bullet last gen too because of this law. So did Nintendo but they had a system only marginally better than the PS2.

In time SD will be acceptable again. And that whole bullshit thing about everyone has 2 systems is not true at all. I don't and im happy to be patient and wait for Nintendo to become the new standard.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

Are you serious?  Do you actually beleave this?

I hope not. I like to have the best graphics possible in a given time on a console and if one looks at the graphics of games like Fallout 3, Gears of War, Uncharted, Halo 3, Final Fantasy XIII, GTA IV, MGS 4, Tomb Raider Underground, or Golden Axe Beast Rider. they would look nowhere near as good on the Wii as they do on the 360 or PS3, and placing them on the Wii would dramatically decrease their appeal.

I remember back in my PC Jr. - NES days. I had an NES and the younger kids liked to come over and play games on it, but it wasn't where most of my enjoyment of games came from. I preferred very much the Sierra and Lucas Arts graphic adventures on the Jr. and none of the NES games came anywhere near being as good and quite a bit of that had to do with the PC Jr. games looking so much better.

If the Wii is the rebirth of the NES, I sure hope their next console is much more in line with being the rebirth of the much better in everyway than the NES SNES.

Maybe you're right, graphics don't suck but I do hate the fact that a lot of games look so blurry on my LCD TV screen comparing to PS3 games. Plus HDD and the fact you can't download your stuff again once your Wii gets broken and having friends codes are my general complaints concerning the Wii. Game line up is getting better and better.

Do you watch DivX movies?

Do you ever watch tv or video on a mobile phone or mp4 player?

Do you play old games on pc or on virtual play on PS3/360/wii?

Do you play games on handheld?

Well don't talk shit if you got a semblance of integrity or self reflective honesty.

yeah lets destroy gaming

The only thing i know im missing from HD discs is bigger storage for larger and arguably more complex games. The irony of this is that BR is not the ideal preference for game size on discs because of the 360's dvd limits.

Dual layer DVD's on Wii, when properly catered for, will go some way to solving this grievance.
