Ok, just stop it. That's a trolling argument if i ever saw 1.

The wii has all types of users, not just casual. N,gai said it himself.

That proves he is a Nintendof fanboy, even if he's made comments otherwise.

Maybe not, could you honestly stomach putting up with that Bonus Round gang rape of Wii games every week if you were?

He's the only one out of almost all the guests who's had the stones to defend it

edit> and its usually only as an economic argument otherwise

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

My comment was to point out what fanboys would claim, and what they would ignore to support the claim.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

Well if the PS360 versions suffer don't expect them to sell, Madden, Rockband and titles like Deadspace sell best on the PS360, you can't take a step backwards. I can get over the Wiis graphics, I know its all about the gameplay, but lowering the standards of PS360 games ... thats not fair to PS360 owners. Of course if the Wii can be the lead platform and not affect PS360 development AT all then I'm all for it! more games for gamers!

EDIT, ok I read the artical, so build the game on the Wii, wii owners get it first, then PS360 owners have to wait for games that will most probably sell better on the PS360.

It won't happen for the big franchises and the reason is simple.
HD console combined still sell more software than the Wii and the sales on those platforms are more predictable than those of the Wii for third parties.

Even if the Wii is close to 50% in hardware marketshare, it still is quite far off in software....

That and you just can't have games that are similar between the HD consoles and the Wii except games using very low resources like Guitar Hero.

So you get one of 2 things :

- HD version ends up looking better and usually Wii version sells poorly ( definitly sells less than 360+PS3)

- HD version ends up looking like the Wii version and sells very badly on the HD consoles...

PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !

Name a third party game on the Wii with the same budget, effort and quality of the HD consoles that hasnt sold good. It's not possible, because there still havent been one. Even multiplat games have been gimped and outsourced. The ones that were similar sold better on the Wii. /thread

CoD WaW wasn't outsourced I think...

It is an interesting argument N'Gai puts up, but i do not agree with it. The Wii should not be the lead platform on muiltiplatform games, that just silly. All i ask is rather than focus all your attention on the Wii, just have an even split, and put quality on all consoles, thats it, and since the beginning of this generation, the wii has not had that.

Put out some quality games built from the ground up for the Wii, hell i am not a game dev and i can think of some creative ways to implement the Wiimote, Where is all the creativity and balls the industry had during the early days of gaming.

There is nothing thats is happening this generation on HD consoles that could not have been done in the past, besides the graphics, gears of war would still be a great game if it was released o a PS2 or XBOX,

If those third-parties are developing on the Wii exclusively than this is a realistic article, but it would be too resource heavy to have to upgrade all aspects of a lead-developed Wii title to make it playable on the PS360.

I think the best option (as some developers have already done) is to have separate teams developing the titles. One for PS360, one for Wii/PS2/etc. to make the most of each system's strengths.

It's all about the game.

But this is the problem, PS2 is the level of quality the developers aim for when making the Wii version. Personally i don't give two shits whether its upgraded from PS2 or downgraded from PS360, as long as its worthy in its own right and comparable to SSBB and SMG in terms of effort.

i mean bad PS2 obviously

This wont happen ever... The Wii doesn't have the ability to produce the numbers for big budget titles like Call of Duty or Dead Rising not to mention a tamed down version of those games are disappointing. The Wii's GPU doesn't have programmable shaders and this adds complexity to porting over a 360 game(the only logical port to make since they share basic architecture) There are games that this would work for though... Viva Pinata style games would likely see much better sales on Wii then on the 360 not to mention scaling the game down wouldn't hurt the gameplay very much.
