Forums - Nintendo - Wii Home?

Just wondering if this ever going to happen? The whole idea of MMOSN isn't new, there're couple of this kind of entertainment for PC and consoles, but to make this like a recreation utility + incorporated service for home console - that's kinda interesting. Yes, PS3 Home is practically useless and boring, but this doesn't mean the idea itself is doomed.

Nintendo already has a strong social networking franchise - Animal Crossing, which is actually fun to play unlike PS3 Home, but if this game could be incorporated into Wii like a service? Buying stuff, playing games, chatting through Animal Crossing? Social simulation games have a great appeal for ordinary people, and especially for so called new audience of Wii, and theoretically this service unlike PS3 Home could be a system seller.

Nowadays there're just not enough space on Wii internal memory, but what about future when downloadbale content would be allowed onto SD-cards like Nintendo repres said or may be in next generation?

Your thoughts?

Around the Network

I wouldn't be surprised if the reason Animal Crossing Wii was so much like it's last iteration was because they're saving most of their big AC ideas for their next console. Taking Animal Crossing in a home direction (while still keeping it an actual game to play) would have a lot of potential.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

Reggie once said that there are plans to do some sort of social app for the Wii, but that it will be done in a way that is "uniquely Nintendo"

It's from barely a month ago, so its still pretty current with their plan, i think.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

I think for the foreseeable future Animal Crossing and Wii Speak Channel are as close as you're going to get to Home.

"Home" will never be done by Nintendo because A) They would not be willing to pay for all the maintenance for a 'free' service. Rather sell a game like 'Animal Crossing'. B) Uncontrolled environment.

Let's face it, if you're a woman on Home we've already seen the mobbing you'll get. And people may not want their little kids on Home either in case of foul language, adult conversations, perverts looking to lure kids, etc. That would never be exceptable to Nintendo so Wii Speak Channel may be as close as they get to Home.
