Forums - General - The official What I want for Christmas thread

If money was no object: (in no order)

1. 50" 1080p 120hz Samsung LCD

2. 5,000 sf house in the Inner Loop of H-town - and could still have my son go to the same school

3. Cribs in Hong Kong, Australia, Dubai and Costa Rica - and Albuquerque, New Mexico

4. A militarized version of a G-wagen and a camo-clad Humvee - with armor and the push-button start

5. A full-size theater in my house - complete with a concession stand, stadium seating and all my video game consoles on a platform that's constantly cooled and raises and lowers out of sight

6. A 727 with a jacuzzi, king-sized bed and a kitchen - and a shower - and comfy leather couches, LCDs - like Tony Stark

7. An F-14 Tomcat, MiG-29 Fulcrum and a P-51 Mustang with dual cockpits

8. Ferrari 612, Porsche Carrera GT, Lamborghini Diablo, Maybach coupe and a '64 Impala SS ragtop

Now, what I can afford and may get within a year or so: likely just one/two things from the list below:

1. Digital SLR - Nikon

2. 42" 1080p LCD or plasma

3. 2009/2010 Tahoe or used Porsche Carerra - or a Boxster

4. 3,000 sf crib - with a media room

5. Good health

6. A cruise for our anniversary

7. A trip to Bora Bora

Vinyls = win.

I have some vinyls too - but a lot of stuff is still packed up. I have a turntable too - packed up. I used to have it hooked up in my old house, but not here.

If religion and money were no object for me and, I would want:

Some new clothes, nothing too fancy.

A Netflix STB.

um...

I don't really want more material stuff. I want more free time... so I guess enough money to retire but work's okay.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

Well, go unpack it. Vinyl is coming back, all the trendy young people who drink large quantities of PBR are in on the trend.

I have a Nikon DSLR.  It's a great camera, and they are really getting cheap now... so sounds like a pretty achievable goal.  And really, 1080p LCDs are getting real cheap to...

Good health on the other hand is hard to buy.  I was cursed with poor health as a child and had 2 rare diseases and 2 comas to go along with them and was sentenced to death by my doctors every time they saw me.. but hey, I somehow lived and I am healthy as an ox now, and money can't buy that.

@ Comrade - dude, you are fortunate to be alive! I just have to hustle harder for the Digital SLR. I have a Nikon N90s - dang, it's sweet w/ a motordrive, but it's a film camera and I rarely pick it up - I use a Kodak 6-7MP camera a lot more. And definitely want one that shoots 1080p video. My sis has a Sony that does it, but the picture quality isn't as good as I want.

@ Steven - what's a Netflix STB? LOL at your response.

@ Goddess - I dunno where the LPs are. I am so close to buying a USB turntable it's not even funny. It's a waste - I'll only use it a few times. My dad has over 8,000 45s and 33s - he loves to walk into shops and tell them 'I could put your store out of bizness!!!'

For the life of me, I found them once and lost them again.

What do I want for Christmas? My two front teeth.

It's a Netflix Set-Top-Box... I was posting on my workstation so I had to limit the length of the post before it crashed. My laptop was restarting.
