Forums - Gaming - If 2009 isnt huge for Sony, the war is over.

comparing with other consoles, the only con of PS3 is it's price
the price will come down eventually
i think PS3 will do fine in the long run, as long as you keep hearing people bitch about it's price
that means there is demand for it, people simply can't afford it

meanwhile, i don't think SCEI is ready to accommodate that many free PSN users anyway

it's a good thing for all consoles to succeed :)

It (PS3's market share) might hit 30%, but definently not more. ~ Neo

Unless you're a shareholder and this is affecting your portfolio, I question why most of your points bother you in the least.

Or did you just feel the need to be the attention whore and create a new topic, alongside the other 150 of them to let us all know your dissappointment in Sony? Please let me know so I can lock this thread and be done with it.

Now thats quite a good idea

As someone who prefers playstation 3 over any system, you know its bad when i am going to throw in the towel. But why shouldnt I? Lets look at some of the bad for the PS3 this year

Lost FFXIII as an exclusive-huge deal, and i know that square said it was a business move, but that means nothing to me.

Somehow lost a 40 something week lead in worldwide sales. How do you go from being ahead this year by almost 2 million and then lose it right at the second of the year? Sony found a way

Home was not what i expected it to be, which sucks because they really hyped it up

Other exclusives like Tekken 6 and possibly MGS4 have been lost to the 360

The resistance, LBP, Valkyria Chronicles all tanked in sales despite being very much hyped and also being very good games

So this is what is in store for next year.....

Killzone 2, Uncharted 2, God of War III Gran turismo 5 possibly FFXIII and others that i dont remember now.

If Sony doesnt cut price or take the market somehow then the war will be over. And as much as i would want them to do it, there probably isnt going to be a price cut they still havent broken even yet.

 Everything in bold is false.

Just because "you throw the towel in "doesn't phase me.

They kept Final Fantasy exclusive in Japan, a major Stronghold for the game.

Sony didn't do anything, it was a price cut from MS.

LBP did not tank in sales, its a new IP, did good.

red - one person creating a thread for the game trying to show how awesome it is does not equal hype.

orange - WTF were you expecting home to be? exactly what I thought it was going to be.

blue - http://vgchartz.com/swlaunch.php?reg1=All&game1=Resistance+2+-+PS3®2=All&game2=Resistance%3A+Fall+of+Man+-+PS3®3=All&game3=&weeks=100

(BTW Sony's own expectations for LBP was less than 2.5mil. It's looking pretty good to pass that)

Before I lock this nonsense, let me just get my own point across, because what I say is important.

I've noticed this trend that Sony fans on this board are more prone to taking sales more personally than fans in the other two camps. It's almost as if there is this subsect of Sony fans that hinge on good sales performance, good news, and secured exclusives so they can enjoy the PS3 more. I've never seen a more whacked mindset out of gaming fans ever, and I'm thankful it only seems to affect them on the internet and not the mass audience of PS3 owners. You are the people that other fanboys use as the example when they lower their bars of expectations in regards to Sony fans. You give the wildest, most outlandish sales predictions and then cry like bitches when they aren't met. There isn't one of you out there as a PS3 owner that doesn't have enough games to keep you busy, so please shut up and enjoy your games.

I have realized that you all are right, I love my Ps3 and i will continue to play it. I guess throwing in the towel doesnt really matter, playstation users still win

Its part and parcel of being a Sony fan. We are an optimistic bunch, but we take it like men when they are not met.

I agree with everything SMcc1887 said..also another thing...if u consider Valkyria Chronicle has tanked...oh man...you do not know anything about SRPG....SRPG generally dont sell anywhere near 250k...unless u have Final Fantasy in the game name....then u can sell 1 mil...but that's only for their first one too..after that...people started to figure it's the same thing whether it's made by SE or not....SRPG is still same old SRPG....and it'll never reach 1mill ever again....even if it's made by SE...which has been proven to be true...all FF SRPG after the first one has not reached close to 1 mil....

Meh I don't care if it stays third as long as I get my GT5, FFXIII, Versus and GOW 3. The install base is already too big for 3rd parties to ignore so again meh, still getting all the games for my PS3.

I've been here long enough to know that doesn't speak for a certain percentage of Sony fans. It's most of you sane ones that have to defend the crazy predictions the few make up for every perceived software and hardware failure Sony goes through. I call it the "LBP will be huge" syndrome.

Also you would die laughing if I showed you some of the epic Sony fan meltdowns that have happened here. I think we had two near suicides when FF XIII was announced for Xbox 360.
