According to this website the PS3 has sold this year:

Console	PS3
Japan	934,644

Do you think PS3 can reach 1 million by years end? I think it will get there but just barely, mainly due to Gundam and WKC releases before the year is up.

It's selling enough to reach a little bit more than 1M, not difficult, but it's common opinion that PS3 won't have really good sales in Japan until its price is cut and, better, if and when a slim version is released too.
