Forums - Sony - Is Playstation network now better than the Xbox live?

No matter how good the PSN gets, everyone will always say XBL.

I, however, say that, with the addition of home, PSN wins easily. Especially once it gets going - when namco arcade hits NA and EU (you can already get Pacman, dig dug and a couple of other titles from the Japan version) it should really push forward!

Seriously you think PSN better then Live? Do you play multiplayer often?

When every game on PSN has working voice chat (MLB08 a Sony game didn't even have chat working, and most games no one talks), one friends list which you can actually use to invite people into all games (sony how about that for Wipeout HD), and a working party system (which sony promised with home, but live got out first in the NXE). Then the discussion can even begin. It's like night and day. PSN has improved, but not in the areas that count the most for online gaming.  I have wished for this all to be fixed, so I can actually play more online games via PSN without being pissed off by the lack of what should be standard features

Twesterm, are u outta your mind or what? First, this is the beta, then we already know that some content will be available very soon: red bull area, uncharted area and motorstorm area. Each area will bring a free game and/or activity. So once again, YOU don't like home, ok, but don't talk for 18M potential users, thanks.

The reason for this is because Microsoft actually understands online better than Sony. This has always been their ace card no matter how much people questioned Microsoft's integrity. If Sony didn't copy Live they wouldn't be where they are today. However I believe home is taking it a bit too far in the wrong direction.

Twesterm cut it, HOME isnt as bad as you want it to be, quit the attacks.

Yeah live uses MSN. It has much better instant messaging.

Someone dosn't like home and you consider it a attack now? Sorry but that is just odd. Everyone is entitled to an opinion

Well he isnt stating any of his posts as an opinion.

How would you like it if I said "XBOX LIVE IS UTTER CRAP, AND A WASTE OF TIME, WHAT A $HITTY SERVICE" would you consider that opinion or an attack?

Live also has more dedicated downloads by users. PSN can have as many users as it wants (Obviously being free), but that doesn't account for the shitty premium download percentages compared to live.

For the milionth time, the public beta thing is crap.  Again, I'll explain what beta means in the gaming world:

  • content complete - Home does not have all its base content.  If it did, it wouldn't feel empty when walking around and you would actually have options in dressing up your avatar other than the stupid amounts of options in the face.  Not to mention that there are only something like six arcade machines and the whole bowling alley just feels unfinished.
  • Progression and major show stopper bugs gone - In my short time with Home I encountered two major bugs
  • Final Art - See content complete because these two have a lot in common.  Also the fact they still have the same three pixalated movies playing over and over again isn't a good sign.
  • The Game should be completely playabled - This is a harder one to apply to Home since they can regularly ship things so I guess they got 1 out of 4.

So this isn't an open beta, it's a failed game.  Somebody made the promise that it would be out by 2009 and rather than having another release date whiz by they forced the team to pay attention to this one.  What they got was the team releasing the product a week or two before holiday vacation and releasing something that just wasn't ready for public viewing.

As I said earlier, find me a positive review/impression and I'll find 10 negative ones.  Most people are going to go into Home, get pissed off at waiting in line to play games, see the lack of content, see how lifeless it is, and never come back.

I know it has beta plastered all over it but most people don't frequent forums and news blogs so all they know is Home was released.  They go into Home and are completely blindsided by the bad and dont' see the potential.

Face it, Home is a failure and isn't something that helps the PSN.  It's a cumbersome menu that only slows me down in getting to what I actually want to do: play games and watch movies.
