Resistance 2 was in DIRECT competition with Gears of War 2, this holiday season, Not CoD: WaW, and the results haven’t been pretty.

you reversed it.

The only game able to have an effect on resistance 2 was cod waw since gears is 1. a 360 exclusive hence not in direct competition and 2. a tps and not a fps. Now it may appeal to the same crowd (mostly) sure. But in either case 1. is reason enough as to why you are wrong.

it doesnt look like we will be seeing them working on a nintendo console anytime soon. what i dont understand is that they are obviously a talented developer but hes saying that developing for the DS is too hard. why? most devs have got the hang of DS controls so they certainly should?

so basically insomniac is a third party but one that only seems to work for sony? kinda like bungie for MS and next level games for nintendo

It is just "average" in term of appeal.
Sadly the same go with Motorstorm and Socom

... Sony should stop these IP or completely rethink them.

I completely disagree when it comes to your thoughts on Resistance.  It has unique weapons, an above average story, and R2 has a great co-op mode with a unique story.

However, I do acknowledge that that seems to be the prevailing opinion on the game.  That's freaking sad, too.  It has twice gone up against the superior graphics of Gears and twice lost out to what is, to me, an inferior series.  And it's not like Resistance is ugly.

Insomniac hasn't put out a bad game in a long time, and they deserve more support than they are getting.

As far as the comments Ted Price made, I think he just likes to remind everyone that they are independent and that just because they keep exclusively working with Sony doesn't mean they have to.  Perhaps that helps motivate sony to give them more support and do things such as bundling Resistance with their hardware.  I think they recognize that you can do more when you focus on one platform, as seen by Ratchet, Resistance, Gears, Killzone, Halo, MGS4, etc.

sony's first and second party problem , they always stop their IPs and start over so no don't stop them

We all know that putting your games on one console is now a risky strategy, so more games will start going multiplat

I hope my 360 doesn't RRoD

I'm of the opinion that Insomniac are fond of the 'one focus' approach - i.e. if all your development is on a single, constantly evolving engine for one platform, development costs are reduced and speed to market increased.

Remember in the time that Epic have got out two Gears they have released two Resistance, one R&C full game and one R&C expansion - and although I'd argue both RFOM games had a few rough edges they were both pretty polished while the R&C games were very polished.

As a result heir total sales on PS3 across all titles are pretty good - and this on what I understand is a single, evolving engine - i.e both RFOM and R&C are using the same core tools.

That said they are clearly totally independent and could go multiplatform, although they'd need to start with some new IP first as Sony own both Resistance and R&C I believe.

So will they? Unlikely I think unless overall sales tank on PS3 - and its early yet to call time on RFOM2 as most Sony titles do spread their sales wider (and bundles will also clearly drive sales at some point I'm sure).

BTW why do people see RFOM2 and Gears 2 in competition?  They are exclusives on different platforms.  They only potentially compete for new console sales which by this stage is looking low.  If either had competition it was COD not each other.  RFOM2 lower sales tells us more about PS3 install base demographic and purchasing habits vs 360 owners, not which took business from the other as that would be minimal.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

I got the indication from that quote that they have no plans for doing anything on the 360.

I have to say that lately Insomniac have been slipping up and there games are not of the quality they used to be, Insomniac need to give there games more time and be better. However there main problem is that Resistance is boring and simply gets lost in the crowd with other shooters, ratchet and clank has never been huge.

When Insomniac sees the sales for Killzone 2, hopefully that shakes them up a little and shows them that kind of shooters people want. BTW don't be silly here, we all know Killzone 2 sales will tear apart Resistance 2 sales, even with no advertising.

So he said that they are an independent studio open for multiplat development. Well.. no different from other independtents, eh?

And he also said that they intend to maintain an expertise with Sony hardware. Meaning they will always work with the platform, exclusive or else...

Nothing revealing here...
