I'm surprised that Final Fantasy 8 is that popular with Japanese gamers. Western jrpg gamers seem to overwhelmingly favor Final Fantasy 7 over 8.

As for RPGs I'm playing now, I'm about halfway through Jeanne d'Arc on the PSP (turn-based strategy rpg developed by Level-5, Published by Sony. It's like an updated version of Final Fantasy Tactics and Shining Force). Really liking it. I'm also renting Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions, which is the PSP remake of the original FFT on PS1.

I also played a bit of Persona 4 on the PS2 recently but I'm shelving that for now.

I didn't realize Jeanne d'Arc was by Level-5, pretty good but it's no FFT. FFT:WotL however is very laggy specially with cast animations. Great cinematic style but the lag seriously got annoying.

From top to bottom Suikoden is my favorite RPG series.  3 is my favorite (I love the idea behind the Trinity Sight System)

@Robo:  Thanks man.  It has been a good while since I was back in this thread and its good to be back:)

Im on my World of Warcraft: Catacylsm kick at the moment, so not much else AT ALL in gaming for me atm.

Anyone else here is also heavily expecting both 3rd Birthday and Dissidia Duodecim?

My 3rd birthday expectations speaks for themselves, it's a PE game, but I've been heavily surprised by the latest news from Duodecim.

The inclusion of a world map points to it being much more story driven than the original Dissidia, plus with more characters getting revealed, it seems that we're nearing 3 playable characters per FF game.
Now we just need normal FF enemies to fight (Bombs, Tonberries, Behemoths, and so on) instead of the FF characters silhouettes, and we'll have a perfect game (IMO)
