Forums - Sales - Ps3 sales rising in Europe?

PS3 has been as low as 25k and as high as 37k over the last 15 weeks where as the Wii has been as low as 52k and as high as 73k over the last 15 weeks.  I don't see how it is keeping up with those numbers.

By "keeping up" I meant not getting trashed 6-1 like in Japan; not actually keeping up as in 45k vs 60k.

As for supply problems, nope. The craze just is not as big in those regions as it is in NA and JP. Nintendo has never done exceedingly well in EU as far as I know.

If thats the case, then I feel the Wii isn't going to sale as well as everyone thinks.

On your first point, I see what you mean, but where do you get 45k vs 60k? PS3 hasn't broken 40k since Launch Week + 3*.

On your second point, there are a lot of people who feel that way, so its not really a crazy theory to have. Just keep in mind that the Wii is doing just as well in the EU as the PS2 did, which means Nintendo is regaining a ton of market share in europe.

But anyways we are getting off topic now. Like I said in my first post, there is definitely a trend starting, but until it sustains current numbers or sustains the trend it is pretty meaningless for the long term. The PS3 will start doing better, not just in EU but everwhere. Gradually there are more and more reasons to buy one, but I don't think you will see any major movement until March 08 or later.

Edit: *was off by one week

Does anyone know what the suply is like in Europ for the Wii? I mean, the PS3 is actually keeping up, and with a price drop it can do great there. The Wii isn't selling there like it is in JP and NA, and I was wondering if it was supply problems.

Broad band availible. You can just go to the store and pick one up in any major country in europe.

Those numbers I posted were to be used as a example as what I didn't mean by keeping up. They're just random numbers I pulled from my ass to show you that I didn't mean it was keeping up as in selling at a close pace.

Most people think that the Wii is going to into god mode, sale 150-200m, and become the greatest selling console ever. If the hype and craze isn't at a all time high in every region, sales like that are simply not possible. If the console is already readily available in Europe, it's likely that sales arn't at a all time high, and that the Wii will not be as strong there as it is in say Japan. Now, just take a second and look just how large the the market is in Europ. It's far larger then the japanese market, and lets be honest, the 360 or PS3 isn't exactly lighting up the sale charts in Europe, which means sales for the Wii should be alot higher then what they are if the Wii is going to sale as good as people are thiking it is.

You're probaly right, however, don't count the PS3 out this holiday season. If sales are high, you can expect a increase in sales sooner then march 08.

@ kber81 )

the countries are poor , but those people who have enough money to get a gaming console easily have enough money for the PS3 .. there's just no healthy middle class between poor and rich

@ grandmaster192 )

no supply problems in germany - every shop I go to has atleast 3-4 Wiis

Gee, that only took 5 months to accomplish.

Grow up and stop trolling.

It's a valid point, though.  At launch (and continuing from there), a system should be able to outsell its predecessor.  If Europe is Sony's strongest market, the PS2 should have been outsold there by the PS3 far sooner.

Didn't the PSOne outsell the PS2 for a while as well?

With regard to the PS2 we are talking about the strongest home console ever which offers a huge gaming library.

IMO for casual gamers who do not want to spend much on their gaming setup the PS2 may well be a better option right now. Not only is the platform cheap, many games are available at budget pricing.

I think almost everyone would prefer a PS3 over a PS2, but the price difference is more significant than there was between the PSOne and PS2.

The PS2 has outsold the XBox 360 for every month since the XBox 360's release. Now not only the PS2 continues to outsell the XBox 360, but the PS3 as well. I think that's a positive sign overall for Sony. Before the PS3's release Sony already predicted the PS2 would be the best selling game console for last christmas.

Naughty Dog: "At Naughty Dog, we're pretty sure we should be able to see leaps between games on the PS3 that are even bigger than they were on the PS2."

PS3 vs 360 sales

Soriku: Slowly, but yes. I think the PS2 still has some life in it yet (it's still been receiving some hot titles this past year).

MikeB: I have to be honest, I love my PS2. It has one HELL of a solid lineup over its lifetime. The PS3... notsomuch with the games yet. I really haven't seen much that's interested me at all. LittleBigPlanet is the only thing that I'm liking so far. The next one after that is Final Fantasy XIII, which won't be out for at least another year. The games just aren't coming in. I prefer the PS2 to the PS3.

Most people?   You mean a few delusional fan boys.   Don't lump us in with them.
