On your first point, I see what you mean, but where do you get 45k vs 60k? PS3 hasn't broken 40k since Launch Week + 3*. |
Those numbers I posted were to be used as a example as what I didn't mean by keeping up. They're just random numbers I pulled from my ass to show you that I didn't mean it was keeping up as in selling at a close pace.
On your second point, there are a lot of people who feel that way, so its not really a crazy theory to have. Just keep in mind that the
Wii is doing just as well in the EU as the PS2 did, which means Nintendo is regaining a ton of market share in europe.
Most people think that the Wii is going to into god mode, sale 150-200m, and become the greatest selling console ever. If the hype and craze isn't at a all time high in every region, sales like that are simply not possible. If the console is already readily available in Europe, it's likely that sales arn't at a all time high, and that the Wii will not be as strong there as it is in say Japan. Now, just take a second and look just how large the the market is in Europ. It's far larger then the japanese market, and lets be honest, the 360 or PS3 isn't exactly lighting up the sale charts in Europe, which means sales for the Wii should be alot higher then what they are if the Wii is going to sale as good as people are thiking it is.
But anyways we are getting off topic now. Like I said in my first post, there is definitely a trend starting, but until it sustains current numbers or sustains the trend it is pretty meaningless for the long term. The PS3 will start doing better, not just in EU but everwhere. Gradually there are more and more reasons to buy one, but I don't think you will see any major movement until March 08 or later.
You're probaly right, however, don't count the PS3 out this holiday season. If sales are high, you can expect a increase in sales sooner then march 08.
