I have to avoid online games since I'm one of those people that can't accept being below average or even average at a game.  I go all out and practice until I'm good, then join clans or guilds, and spend a lot of hours trying to become one of the best at the game.

Yea I understand you completey...the thing is the more you play online the more rep you get from users...I'm currently playing Tom Clancy Rainbow Six Lockdown for the PS2 online...And I'm getting thrashed every single night...But 4 times throughout my lifetime with that game I led my team to victory...and I have so much rep because my squad, or players know that I'm dedicated to the game and I'm serious about playing and I'm trying....thats all..when I think that I get good and my interest in online games become stronger...

All you need to know.

since protein folding is very close to my research... i have a responsibility to let more people know about this field! here's a very brief background.

String theory and particle physics might be big 50 years ago, it is protein folding that is hottest field of theoretical research these days in science--physicists, chemists, biologists, engineers, everybody wants a piece of it. It is, of course, daemonly difficult, and despite decades of research, we really aren't anywhere close to a satisfactory result yet.

Everybody knows vaguely what a protein is. A little more detail: a protein is a molecule (I hope people know what a molecule is). Unlike molecules like water (H2O), carbon dioxide (CO2), which are very small, proteins are much bigger. Because of that, even though we know what individual proteins are made of, we don't know what it looks like. "Folding" refers to how a protein get to look like the way it does.

One approach is to simulate how a protein folds on a computer. The problem with this approach is that you need a TON of computers, and you can never have enough. The Stanford group thus decided to utilize home computers when people aren't using them, and thus FOLDING@HOME.

Yes, by downloading the software and running the program when you're not using your computer, you really are helping out and actually contributing to solving the protein folding problem!

the Wii is an epidemic.

o ok, i am familiar with string theory, but theirs a lot of split opinion in the physics community about this...

one quote i heard 'there are physicists and then their are string theorists'

10-15 hours daily

For a second, I thought this guy was you, but then noticed the Xbox 360 controller.

Hehe just kidding leo

On-topic: When I get a new game, I can go straight 4 hours on it. On a general basis, I say around 1 hour every day, because school, gf, work and music.

But every tuesday, wednesday and friday, I spent about 1 hour @ the arcades playing Dancemaniax or DDR.

Well atm I haven't actually gamed at all 2dai, but generally these holidays I may have played 2hrs a day... that's pretty low considering... but I been out and about a lot and busy...

I get, at least, 2 hours a day with my DS. I play my hand-helds more than my consoles. Play anywhere. Great for Work/Toilet Play. I'm playing right now :)

Console games... Depends on my mood. I may pop in some oldies every now and again. I usually play through new games quickly; depending on the game, of course.

Near 5 hours per day
