In the Americas, the GC had an extremely strong Nov/Dec compared to the months before and after it. Where as the PS3 had a better year all around, and hasn't really experienced much of a Christmas boost yet.

In others, PS3 destroys the GC by comparison.

In Japan, the GC had a really strong 1st and 3rd year holiday sales, while again, the PS3 hasn't seen that much of a boost yet.

So if you look worldwide, the PS3 is doing better than the GC was doing, mostly because of the strong performance in Others.

yes the cube was very much a holiday seller, also the reason for the major increase was I believe this was the 1st cmas the cube was $99

I agree with what ever it is crazzy's saying.

On a true though people are being stupid now i mean, the ps3 is doing just fine, it has ben selling well all year but just has not had a big holiday boost thats all.

Meh, better put in a bit more.

GC is really easy to compare to Ps3. Why? Well, about equal 2006 (2001 for Cube) and late Europe launch (albeit 1.5 months later for GC).

 

So.

2001/2006 (year 0)

GC: 2405K

Ps3: 1367K

 

2002/2007 (year 1)

GC: 4964K

Ps3: 7921K

 

2003/2008 (year 2, but only up untill 1 week into December).

GC: 4406K

Ps3: 9026K

 

Normally I'd leave a comment, but I believe the numbers speak for themselves here.

Gamecube did pretty good in the US of A ... So PS3 has nothing to worry about! It's already at 16 mil or something! Pretty good I guess!

 take europe out and it is much more interesting. The Wii is Nintendo's first home console to even do decent in Europe (let alone be the runaway success the Wii is)

example- the PS3 passed the cubes ltd in Others like 9 months ago.
