Forums - Nintendo - Pictures shows a reason why 3rd party "core" Wii games don't sell...

"So please, anyone trying to prove that the Wii sucks simply because ONE Wal-Mart decided to showcase bad titles first is trying way too hard. Stop it."

And it's freakin' Wal-Mart. Not exactly a hardcore heaven.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

i think that is the least of Wii's worries and should be happy. Heck for a long time the Wii section was so small. Now in stores it is the biggest out of them all.

But the sales generally speak for themselves. Only 2 real pieces of shovelware (so far, anyway) have gone on to sell 1 million: Game Party and Carnival Games. Otherwise, they've been quality titles at least, and great titles at best

Canival games + Physics engine =/= shovelware.

Just because the game looks like it does not mean it is.

This is why I don't buy games from Walmart or Target.

Oh god, yeah I think I saw that M&M game at some store a while back, too... The horror, the horror...! :O

Well, over the weekend, I went to Target, not to buy, just waiting for someone else to buy something), and I heard some lady say "Look, they have some GREAT deals on Wii Games"... I was in the same isle, playing the PS3, so I looked over and saw...

OH THE HORROR!!!

OK, well, anyway, the lady at least had a list with her, and she saw that none of the games her kid wanted were there, and left promptly... I however, looked through the games, and saw, So many shovelware and "casual" games, that I was tempted to ask the person in charge what the fuck was wrong in their head... There were empty slots, and I'm sure everyone can see the 2 potentially "core" 3rd party titles like Sonic Unleashed (which was practically out of sight), and Fire Emblem, and, if you want to count a third, the Force Unleashed...

Something is wrong with this picture when you have MASSIVE Wii display, there are literally 7 "Imagine" and "Petz" titles displayed, and there are slim-to-none hardcore games... Where's Okami? What about No More Heroes? Zak & Wiki? LoZ:TP? RE4? RE:UC? And don't say that they're "too old", because "Monster 4x4" is 2 years old and is holding a spot!

I can't wait to play  "Guiness World Records"!

Oh! THERE'S SONIC! BEHIND THE FREAKING DISPLAY!

Uh, anyone here want to play "Are you smarter than a Fifth Grader"? Didn't think so...

These Pirate and Movie game titles are "To DIE for"

Really? Who's going to buy a goddamn M&M game?

Hey, anyone want A Shitty Disney-version of Singstar "Sing It", or American Idol?

Oh look! A side-display! GARBAGE!

Retailers need to work their magic here... The X360/PS3 displays looked nothing like this...

Discussion?

LOL!!! I always go to Wal-Mart/Target/etc. and take pictures of all the bootleg games it has. I mean, "Gallop and Ride"? LOOOOOOL

Shovelware always gets put up top and on best display, its for the people who don't know any better to walk in, see it, and buy it thinking it is good.

Proper gamers usually know what they want to buy before walking into the store, and if that game happens to be bottom shelf behind 5 other games, they will look for it until they find it, or just ask at the counter.

This.

Tesco's in the UK is like this.

last week Madworld was #1 in their chart and amongst the other top 30 places were a few good titles but the rest were Petz, pirates, monkey mischief etc etc.

One week later and Madworld was out of the top 30 altogether but the other titles still remained.

Don't forget: shops like Wal-Mart or Media Markt (biggest retail chain in Europe) earn much more profit on shovelware titles than on AAA titles.

That is the most important reason why crappy titles got such good spots.

And: most people who read previews, doing research or observing forums like this spend their money on Xbox360/PS3 games ;)

Meh...im just gonna pretend 2 of these empty spots are sold out MadWorld and House of the Dead: Overkill.
