Forums - Sony - Sony: Home unlikely to push hardware

It looks like Sony is taking a pessimistic approach to Home launch:

TOKYO - Sony Corp.'s much delayed virtual community for owners of its PlayStation 3 game console will start worldwide Thursday, but it's unlikely to attract many newcomers to the machine, company officials said.

The free-of-charge PlayStation Home service is mainly meant to make gaming more fun for people who already own the PS3, they said.

And I actually agree with them: it's meant to enhance the experience of the existing owners.

sony has changed. pessimism isn't good nonetheless

"Dr. Tenma, according to you, lives are equal. That's why I live today. But you must have realised it by now...the only thing people are equal in is death"---Johann Liebert (MONSTER)

"WAR is a racket. It always has been.

It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives"---Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler

I agree with them this time

For once, I agree with Sony =p

Home was meant to be nothing but an advertising area for Sony, just look at how many companies have signed up for advertising in Home. For some reason I think it costs a lot to advertise in Home. 200+ employees wasted on this shit, it better become a cash cow if nothing else.

Is this pessimism? That's more like realism to me.

If MS or Sony talks BS, everyone says "marketing crap".

Now that one of those two actually says something valid, it's pessimistic?

I agree with em, but it can make the difference between a xbox360/ps3 purshase.
