Like Sony, Nintendo didn't even mention the competition in their statement.

Microsoft did their best to kick at both Sony and Nintendo, but Nintendo only said 'We sold tons of shit'. They're being nice about it. Dunno if that's good or bad.

How would you feel if your rival didn't bother to so much as acknowledge your existence at his victory party?

The PSP and PS2 are keeping the PS3 on life support, both need to get more and more support ASAP. Thankfully for Sony SE of all people are giving them some huge PSP games so that will help them.

This is getting to a point now where Sony have to let go of profit, they need install base. Yes that sounds retarded but it's anything but. software will make them back there money.

Indeedy, there are still making profit though which is what matters.

Actually, the statement said 'Games made for nintendo systems', meaning, exclusives. And Guitar Hero is definatly not an exclusive.

Considering the recent round of layoffs Sony needs profit more than anything.  The speculated March price cut may be further away than everyone thinks.

Console companies make money from Software, Sony cant ignore all that money anymore. They have to go deserpate and cut the price by $100. After that if numbers remain the way they are then Sony need to settle for third place and make profit.
