Don't forget that November 2007 was a 5 week month for NPD. That really shows just how much supply increased for the Wii.

They have a point though. The only reason it sells is because people like innovative, easy to pick up, fun games.

| Hyruken said: Buying any of the consoles is expensive, especially at this time of year and in this current financial climate. I don't buy it that the cost matters anywhere near as much as people try and tell it. If you REALLY want a PS3 the extra $100 is nothing to pay to get it. I'm sure they could wait a couple of weeks on an investment like that if they wanted it. And people don't want it, simple as that. |
That's exactly the case though. For the average uneducated consumer (whom most are) why would you wait for a few extra weeks to afford the PS3 if you can get (in their mind) a comparable product for half the price?
And I don't know about the States, but in Canada you can get a Pro 360 and 5 free games for $299, versus $399 for a PS3 with no games. It just doesn't make sense to buy a PS3 right now. Retailers aren't pushing it, and consumers aren't purchasing it.

It's all about the game.
Imagine if Wii had a strong game lineup for the holiday season in addition to Wii Music. That's a lot of missed opportunity for them as well.
And 3rd party publishers need to spend time thinking a new Wii strategy ASAP. If I was a stockholder to one of these companies I'd be outraged.

So PS3 decrease really isn't all that gloomy!
"Strong game lineup in addition to Wii Music"?
Uhhhh I don't think those two should go together lol.

It's all about the game.
I see the Wii as a correction in the market. Games were getting too complex for mass appeal. Heck even madden games were getting too confusing with their complex button combos. I think we forget how intimidating that can be to the casual gamer.
