That doesn't mean that they aren't tied right now and will stay that way until the other sales reports come in.

Leo is just saying it's kinda unfair and I do agree with him. We have the updated US sales but we are comparing US VS world but we're doing it with incomplete world numbers.

Well, sinc the thread was started when european numbers were up but not america's, I think it's the same situation and the Wii according to theavailable numbers on vgchartz (which are the numbers the thread was referring). Wii American numbers have passed PS3 WW numbers, if Ps3 passes wii again after the others and japan numbers are uploaded Sony fans can start a thread titled "YAAAAAAY PS3 WW numbers are back on top of Wii america's numbers" hehe

The thread asked when would that happen, some people said it would never happen. It happened sooner than expected, let's move on and forget about this thread.

cebrian, just because they don't get those numbers reported until later in the week doesn't mean that all those consoles sold in japan and others didn't happen. So no, the Wii did not pass the PS3. It's just a tactic that one group of fans use because it sways things into their favor.

I agree with many posters in that people are jumping the gun. The Japan and Others numbers are not in, and those only help the PS3. That means posters are handicapping the PS3. I would wager that this week will actually see a increase in the margin barring any adjustment to total sales data. Which I suspect did happen after this post was made.

The PS3 actually had a boost in sales this week in North America, and a key title is still moving some hardware in Japan based on early projections. So unless the Others region saw a dramatic fall in sales the margin will have increased by thousands of units. Perhaps the margin will increase to 50,000 units. Given that the Wii sales are sliding, and that Sony has seen some increases.

I would highly recommend that some posters think long and hard about what they are posting. Other posters will copy paste that and use it against you in the future. Right now Nintendo has to seriously increase sales in North Americas. Sony must also see a reasonable drop in sales to see this possibility ever come to pass. Nintendo might end up just getting close. Sony doesn't have to beat down on Nintendo to win this foot race. They just have to string it out past September. Once that happens. Nintendo will have to achieve complete market dominance for this statistic to come to pass.

I will stick to my prediction wait towards the end of September. Perhaps Microsoft is the dark horse that is going to decide this race. All of it depends on how many sales they can take from Sony.

So... Leo-J... if the ps3 continues to sell at it's current 'high' rate... you think Wii won't be able to surpass ittt... you must be dizzy mate... you wwatch in the week Metroid Prime 3 Corruption comess out and PS3 worldwide will fall behind Wii US.

One more thing, even if the Wii US never surpasses PS3 WW it's still disgraceful that an 'underpowered' nintendo machine is almost outselling the 'ps3 with the great cell processor' in jus one territory.
