Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Fallout 3: Operation Anchorage Screenshots (looks great)

Wait, what? What is this BS? FO3 was horrible as a shooter and now they are basically throwing away the pluses and focusing solely on the minuses of the game. Unless the PC version is free, I won't bother to even touch it with a 10 foot pole. If it's not free for the PC it would also explain exactly why Bethesda did not release a mod toolkit with the game to begin with.

Did you ever think that Bethsada wants to explore the liberation of Anchorage, and could do 100 different things to explore such an idea?

The DLC is going to be about the same length as the Single Player campaign from Call of Duty 4. Even if it did focus on the shooter aspects, I'd certainly enjoy it in VATS :)

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

That's my general poitn actually. Why do they bother with the battle of Anchorage at all if they know it will focus almost exclusively upon one of the weakest elements in the game. If FO3 could be equated to a nice house with a pool and everything, the trash can would be the shooting equivalent, now why would they expand on the trash of all things? I want a bigger pool dammit.

So you think that Bethsada can't tell a good story surrounding pre-fallout Anchorage?

It's not the story, it's the ridiculously amazing open atmosphere that the capital wastelands had. On my first playthrugh I was headed towards some small village in the south west when I accidentally ran into Tenpenny tower and that whole arc. I didn't have to fire a bullet or anything to reseolve it. On my second play through I massacred the entire tower. That's what was great about FO3, and a battle against the Chinese really does not seem like it will leave me with more options and a deeper atmosphere than GoW2 had. Which would be fine if the game was a good shooter, but it's not.

..So you didn't enjoy Tranqulity Lane? That was a small, enclosed area.

Oh I loved that part, one of my favorites in the way it was done. However, outside the Chinese training program, where exactly was the Combat/Stealth Oriented gameplay?
