Forums - Nintendo - Went with DSLite over DSi for the kids now what about MINE?

Well after a debating for a few weeks I decided to get both my Daughters a DS Lite(for Christmas) over waiting on the DSi. The GBA compatibility was too much too loose (for them). I am kinda unfamiliar with the DS so any recomendations for games that will be suitable for a 6-8 year old girl range would be appreciated(other than anything Disney they already let me know that). They are into Pokemon since they unearthed my old GBA's thats all they play,so diamond and Pearl will get purchased. Does anyone have any feedback on the other Pokemon games and would they be suitable for the kindergarten age range (ie. limited attention span and reading skills). We have a Wii and both love Cooking Mama so is the DS cooking Mama good?

Secondly I also enjoy playing games with them and now I can not decide for myself if getting the DS Lite would suit me better or should I wait for the DSi. I have a PSP so that will still handle my Multimedia needs movies and such. I am could see myself downloading games or content. I have also seen things for the DS Lite that intrest me like the micro SD that fits into the game slot and can do some intresting applications. Really still not decided for me the battery issue is pretty significant but I would mostly be playing with them at home so not sure if that is as much of an issue. the screen size is a nice improvement  but it is still pretty small so no big deal....I still have a SP so backwards compatibility is less of an issue. Someone PLEASE help :P

Lastly What kind of things can the Wii and DS do together. Anything like what the PS3 and PSP can do? Is it a game by game thing and if so what games? Thanks in advance for any help.

Cooking Mama for the DS is also an excellent game.

Someone PLEASE help :P I'd definitely wait for the DSi. The possibilities of downloadable GB/GBA games with a possibility of Lynx and Gamegear games? Count me in. And if the battery is a big deal, you can replace it, I believe. But the fact it's also an MP3 player is a huge plus, well, for me. And since you have an SP, don't worry about BC.

The Wii has the Nintendo Channel where you can download DS demos. Uh..other then that..nothing too big. Animal Crossing: City Folk has some Wii->DS connectivitiy. But, other than that, nothing big. >>

By the way, get No More Heroes.

yea I want to get that although the Wii really isn't mine more for my wife and kids but I couldn't resist Zelda so I'll have to try out No more Heroes seems like a game I would like. initially was going to get Red Steel glad a didn't since I played a friends and that game almost made me motion sick.

I think you forgot to tell him to get No More Heroes.

i got a DSi a couple days ago and if youre not gonna buy it for the multimedia capabilities (camera and music) then its not worth it yet. The bigger screen and better sound are nice but not great enough to recommend it just for that. There really isnt any interesting downloadable content yet, but it really has potential. If youre really thinking about the future or want multimedia capabilities it might be a good idea to get a DSi, if you dont care about multimedia capabilites and the possibilities of downloads in the future there is not a lot of reason to get it.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

My little cousins have fun with Mario Kart DS, Mario Party DS (although, sometimes you have to tell them the directions), and strangely enough, Brain Age 2 (I have no idea why they are so into the).

I'd also recommend Clubhouse Games, and I guess they would like Nintendogs.

They'd probably love Super Princess Peach.

My daughter is my world.

New super mario bros, it is a game you can enjoy and your kids too
