Anime works in three's whereas the west is genrally in two's. Technically western animation should be smoother. However Anime clearly wins because it transcends the childhood stigma that western animation is contrained by. Hence why Anime's often have far superior story-lines.

BTW The amount of output that the Japanese industry comes out with is what leads to the "lower" standards then Disney (not to mention a tv show should never be compared to a motion picture), Animation is expensive and very few companies can afford to do it anymore. And the west hardly even does 2d animation anymore, almost all Disney productions are 3d nowadays for example.

Besides Studio Ghibli > Disney

While your argument did own the OP I will add that qhile production of animations of top quality is lacking in Japan now a days there are always the animes that arent 50+ ep series that have pronominal animation.

Typically American animations and cartoons skip between 6 months to a year for the next season of maybe 20 episodes. If a Japanese series skips that long it is because they are preparing another season of about 60 episodes while still producing and releasing new episodes for distribution. You mainly see large gaps when weekly series catch up to the animators. Also you might see fillers to ease the pain of waiting for the real episodes to roll out again.

Ghibli VS Disney.

Okie dokie, oh wait a minute the reason why you saw Spirited away or Howl's Moving Castle or most of there works in the united states (besides grave of the fireflys) is because of.....

They dubbed them.  There the reason why there the first anime film to get an oscar.  (of course Disney have WAY more.)

Hey whats this...only a disney film is the only animated film ever to be nominated as film of the year.

So basically we can check the list.

Americans made animation- Check.

Americans were the main inspiration for anime- Check.

Americans animate better- Check.

Americans distrubute big japanese films so weeaboos can even argue about them- Check.

Americans have made more influential animated films, characters than the japanese- Double, triple check.

Pretty clean cut decison there, of course everyone knows the characters from grave of the firelflys more than mickey mouse!  Japanese guy and ummmm little girl last time I checked...

Naruto is probably the worst example of well drawn anime.

Also, you're comparing a movie (Which is what 2 hours) with a gazillion dollar budget (DIsney, remember?) to a anime that's at least 200 episodes long now (original and shippuden, or whatever it's called, I don't follow it anymore) from an anime studio.

The best drawn american cartoon SERIES that I've seen is Boondocks, and what'd you know, alot of it's art style and action sequences are heavily influenced from anime.

I personally enjoy American cartoons more (Transformers ftw!) but even then, the Japanese have always done it better.

Sorry but when it comes to 2D animation the prize goes to the japanese, there just downright good. A is pretty damn good to but theres a limit there.

(1) Maybe this is true in your cherry picking comparison of Naruto, an animated TV series of mediocre quality, to Aladdin, an animated movie of the highest quality.  I noticed you didn't compare the quality of Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, or Howl's Moving Castle to Aladdin. ;)  Better yet, compare crap like Total Drama Island to Naruto and see who wins.

(2) They distribute them in America.  I assure you that Japanese companies are more than capable of distributing their content in their own country and language.  Had you watched one of the Ghibli films with Japanese dub, you'd realized they were just as good as, if not better than, the English dub by disney.  Voice acting in general is one area where Japanese animation totally destroys American.  If your compare the average Japanese voice actor to the average American voice actor, the Japanese will win every time.  There's much less room for actual acting, and voice acting is much more valued as a result.  With the exception of rare series like Afro Samurai and Disney-made stuff, most American voice acting sucks.

(3) Of course AMERICAN animators have made more influential animation/characters from your perspective.  You're AMERICAN (I think.  At least, you're from a western country).  It's much more part of our culture than any Japanese movie.  However, in Japan, it's the exact opposite.  I bet kids are much more likely to know Totoro than Mickey there.

o_O

I thought this thread was a very amusing sarcastic joke.

No he is just being biased. You should know that there are many characters in Animes that are influential and are easily as influential as Disney characters.
