^the guy in the article is using gfk data which is sold the consumer not shipped and the interview was from mid November and gfk has a 2 week delay in its data so you could defend that the 800k figure is from early November.

So though the 360 does seem overtracked in France, it should not be by as much as you claim.

Oh my! Such a weird turn of event this year with the 360 and PS3. So a price cut is really important for a console to sell? o_O

No... but both the ps3 and the 360 are pretty equivalent in their capabilities and library so they compete against each other for the same demographic. In such conditions, price matters.

Capabilites equivalent no, the 360 does not have a blu-ray player, nor does it have  several significant features the ps3 has, consumers just dont give a $hit about blu-ray, and therefore they arent wasting there time on the ps3.

Capabilities equivalent, yes. Both play games which is what people care about consoles and they share a good chunk of their titles. As for blu-ray, currently arcade+standalone player is cheaper than a ps3. Other features like TEH CELLZ! and Linux are largely irrelevant.

I guess there isn't much to say , until Sony have a competetive price point with the PS3 they will continue to suffer at the hands of the 360.

it's suprising they are still able to sell that many units , not everyones feeling the recession eh ?

DS is simply incredible. Wii is a beast. Feel somewhat sorry for Sony though. Such low numbers won't do their bank manager any favors.

My club is no longer the best because it's the largest but now it's the best because it's special.

Ooops sorry, I just rewrote your post.

Well if you want to interpret it like that then go ahead but that's not what I said or even implied . You can't argue that Sony is doing well by any measure against it's competition but that's largley due to it's recession unfriendly price point , it's a mass market product like the Wii&360 ; when the masses income suffer so do sales of costly goods but because of the PS3's high price point and it's similarity to the 360 it'll suffer.

But it is admirable how well such an expensive product is still selling in large numbers in the midst of a recession,  I don't think the 360 would sell nearly as healthily at a $400 price point which is part of the reason Microsoft reduced it's price so aggresivley. it shows the PS3's strength and potential .

I know, I know ;) I just can't resist a well placed jab from time to time. Your logic is sound =)

@ Bitmap multiply your jabs by the number of 360's sold worldwide , that's how omuch it hurts.

You're forgetting the PS2 and PSP are also Sony products. Altogether not too bad for Sony i'd imagine.
