Forums - Sony - Killzone = Halokiller ?

There is no way this game can be a halo Killer. Halo has character, some as Gears. This is what makes a game, you feel good playing it and you like the charactor. I thought the first KZ was not good and I don't have any feeling for KZ2, but I can't wait for the next Halo as it has soul and I want to play it. There are not many games that can command this kinds a feeling and KZ2 is not one of them.

God I wish people would get it through they're heads that popularity does NOT equal quality -_-;;; It simply equals mass market appeal >_>;;; Why is it when I say Halo is the definition of generic FPS, people get offended -_-; I didn't say garbage, I just said generic, y'know... how it has to be to still attract 8.5 million people x.X Guys, it's not like I haven't played the game... I mean Generic in the best possible way :P It's a good thing :)

@Random comment, Halo.... amazing A.I..... .... Did we play the same game O.o? Halo 3's A.I. sucked ass >< Why is everyone under the assumption of otherwise?

GAH enough about halo and everyone trying to kill Halo >< I personally don't think it's a worthy goal of striving for and would much rather they sell 1k copies and actually have it be an amazing game -_-; I agree with the earlier statement, the only thing that's going to kill off Halo, will be another Halo, or another Call of duty.

Whoa, whoa, whoa, if you think Halo's AI "sucked", then you needed to play on legendary.

@Jereel, play ANY fps on the hardest setting and you'll get similar results >
It was awesome, there was this Grunt standing behind a concrete railing, so I decide to see how he'd like a little grenade for breakfast, and his dumbass stands there and dies. Like... not even reacting. .... mmmk... just a glitch, it has to be, they do this shit all the time!!!! It's like "sometimes" they feel like jumping away from your grenades >

All the pathetic posts about Halo being generic. LOL

When anyone actually making a thread like this or posting similar comments understands why Halo 1-3 are so good and loved, then come back and discuss. If you think realistic animation and realism graphics are a reason for it to beat Halo, you do not understand why Halo is loved.

I for one would have crucified Bungie for making Halo look realistic.

Halo as a package is near perfect.

millions of people love Halo for the single player. It's sci fi story although borrowed heavily, is one of my favourite stories in a game. I have seen so many talk crap about how the story is shit, and not even know what the flood are, or what the Halo rings were designed for.

Halo single player is pure genious, and multiplayer is gods gift to mankind.

Based on the hype and previews of KZ1, I thought it was gonna get 100% on metacritic. Again with KZ2 previews and hype anyone would think the same again.

The graphics in KZ1 were awesome for PS2, but that is not where the game became so mediocre. I really hope KZ2 is not the same. But from what Ive seen aprt from graphics there is nothing that sticks out. The characters are not memorable, the vehicles are not distinctive etc. Since the first Halo things like the Warthog, Molignor armour, Covenant, Flood, Halo, Prophets. These are iconic things which are instantly recognisable. Something KZ2 just doesnt have.

Wow. Halo was a (I would argue the first) good console shooter, as were its sequels... but it *was* generic. I guess it kinda defines generic, so maybe that's why so many people consider it to not be?

Anyone who had played PC shooters for years, up to the point of Halo's release, would agree, I think. Halo reminded me a LOT of Marathon when it was released. Go figure.  Tribes was released years before Halo.  Tribes was a way better online game, in a LOT of people's opinions.

That being said, its pretty tough to really get creative with a shooter, and when you do (e.g. Fracture, Haze), you often get hammered for it (because not every idea is actually cool or fun). Halo is solid. That's its strong point. What it does, which is nothing really very interesting, it does very well.

Halo can't be "killed". It cemented its place as "first decent console shooter" on the day of its release. Its also not worthy of being held up as some sorta icon, except that its sales have always been solid, thanks to its being the first decent shooter series ever really accessible to console owners. If you were to compare Halo, or any of its successors, to PC shooters of the time, it would be utterly lost in the crowd.

CoD4 already unseated it, in my book, as the best online shooter this gen.  Halo was never a great single player game, really.  KZ1 was better than Halo, in that regard.  So were a truckload of other shooters.  KZ2 will probably replace CoD4, as the favored online shooter on the PS3.

I don't see how it "kills" Halo 3, though.

I diagree. People hold Half Life 2 up with a big candle. Although the majority of the single player was generic and boring at times. Along with the gimic of physics weapon (which only became good near the end) to me I would rather play through the Halo trilogy again. I know millions of people would agree.

Wait... you're saying Halo 2 (released around the same time as HL2) has a better SP experience than Half-life 2?  How about other PC shooters of that era... Far Cry, FEAR, etc?  If you think Halo 2's SP game is better than any of those titles... I think you'll find that "millions" do not agree.

Until recent times, comparing PC shooters to console shooters... was a joke.  No console shooter could, in the past, come even close to comparing.  That definately includes the Halo series, both single- and multi-player.  Its only because the "lowest common denominator" of gaming PCs and consoles are so close these days, and most PC shooters are ports to or from the X360, that console shooters even compare at all to PC shooters, lately.

Selnor, I think your taking it too much as an insult >_>

Games like Halo CAN'T and I mean CAN'T have complicated game mechanics, the more substance you have, the easier it is to lose audience. Halo is the most basic shooter I've ever played. It doesn't mean you can't have fun with it at all, it just means the fun you get out of it is pretty standard shooter stuff. It doesn't really have a mechanic to call it's own. It's barebones >_>;;; It's a generic shooter with tons of polish. And that's fine. It's not a bad game, in fact as you claim it's "near perfect", which means that they got standard FPS gameplay to a "near perfect" state. Good for them :) Just entirely too casual, and not rewarding enough to play and master in my opinion.

Lol @ gods gift to mankind. You ever play the Time Splitters series, Future Perfect had ridiculously fun single player and an awesome story, the writing was top notch, so funny, way more fun than Halo. And their multiplayer was exponentially better than Halo's. Tons of cool weapons, and I mean tons, tons of characters, again tons, awesome multiplayer modes. Most fun I've had with a multiplayer FPS.

Did you play the KZ2 beta, or how do you know nothing else sticks out.

@Feylic Future Perfect was amazing! So many amazing weapons, fantastic graphics, incredible dialogue ^^ THAT was a good game :P That game, (amongst many others), was a "halo killer" in full to me ^^
