Forums - Sony Discussion - SONY in the USA

The same way they let the Wii stomp the PS3 to death worldwide.

A $600 launch price (almost no one actually bought the 20gig) and pathetic library for the first year. MS had the same problem due to $400 launch price and a bad first year lineup but had a year's head start which seems to have made all the difference.

Fixed again.

He was trying to explain that the launch price of $599 US dollars shattered the PS3's chances of leading in the USA.

Blame McDonald's...

Think of it as McDonald's. Fast and cheap. The US is a fat and lazy country. They want everything right now, cheap and lots of it. It may not be the best to eat, but it's still tasty. Variety at a cheap price. ~_n

Blame Netflix...

Netflix is like a buffet. All you can eat at one price.

American's like things fast and cheap, but we're not lazy.

I think it's insulting to insinuate that the issue is with consumers.  Sony has no one but themselves to blame for their problems.   For most consumers, the 360 makes more sense than the PS3.
