What's the diffrence beetween 1st and 2nd party ?

As for the mentioned ones Sony.

Take Gears of War as an example- Epic are an independant developer, but MS own the Gears of War franchise. This means it's a 2nd party title, Microsoft don't own Epic but they own the rights to the game. I'm pretty sure this is what it means anyway.

Now take Uncharted as an example- Sony actually own Naughty Dawg, the developer, as well as the Uncharted name. So this makes it a 1st party title.

At the end of the day it's not really a huge difference, that's why most people consider 2nd party games to be 1st party games.

MS does not own the Gears Of War franchise. They just payed Epic a lot of money to keep it exclusive. Just because they published it doesn't mean that they own it.

Anyway, Sony has more and far better internal talent than MS does. It isn't even close. Outside of Halo, PGR, and maybe Fable, MS's first and second party titles aren't that hot. This is one of the reasons why they haven't managed to turn a consistent profit.

Consoles owned: Saturn, Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, PSP, DS, PS3

Not the whole franchise, but they own the rights of Gears of War & Gears of War 2

SONY. M$ Have some great games tho. That being said M$ 1st and 2nd party don't cater for my taste as well as SONY .

Sony by a mile, of course neither gets near Nintendo...

Sony, by mile. God of War 3 for the win.

"MS does not own the Gears Of War franchise. They just payed Epic a lot of money to keep it exclusive. Just because they published it doesn't mean that they own it."

They own the publishing rights to the first two games on console, just like they do for the first Mass Effect. And saying they paid Epic a lot of money is probably way off. No one dreamed how big the series would get, and MS already had a publishing deal for the first few games in the series. Microsoft promoted the crap out of the first Gears, and it paid off. The series has become huge not only for Microsoft, but Epic.

MS, just look at Gears Of War and halo both were holy untouchable.

Sony by a landslide :P Microsoft is entirely too predictable in they're endeavors.

I've always been a fan of Sony's quirky/unique taste in franchises ^^ They have a great knack for bringing some amazingly creative talent on board for they're published titles. I mean the heads of Sony funded God of War, which was an awesomely unique take on the Greek Mythology, and yet the funded Patapon :P

Sony games just take some amazing extremes as far as artistic differences, and I kinda dig that ^^

From 0 to KICKASS in .stupid seconds.

This is why I think Mass Effect 2 will be 360 exclusive. Because Mass Effect 1 can never be brought out on PS3. M$ arent stupid, they'll get the rights to number 2 as well.
