Forums - Sony - Is Anyone Familiar With This Service?

http://www.ps3directdownloads.com/?hop=bendr316

Not sure if its a scam or not, it certainly looks legit.  It offers you a service where you are basically installing a dedicated bittorent downloader to your PS3, and they claim it allows you to download movies and TV shows, even games?

This seems sketchy to me, and it certainly can't be legal.  Anyone know anything about it?

you know it says free and then you have to pay 50 bucks, right?

seems very fake/illegal

i wouldnt do it

PLAYSTATION®3 is the future.....NOW.......B_E_L_I_E_V_E

Consoles owned: Game Cube, Gameboy Color, Gameboy Advance, Nintendo DS, PSP, PS1, PS2, PS3.

My prediction: NATAL WILL NOT help 360 sales. Maybe a 50-100k boost week 1, then a 30-70 k boost week 2, and back to the norm again after 3-5 weeks.

it says the SOFTWARE is free, the $50 is for the rest of the operation.  I just cant see how this site is still active after a year if it is illegal. You'd think Sony would be on them

I'm not considering it.  I briefly entertained the idea, now I'm just curious

Sounds like Spyware or a Trojan horse to me

I think you should send that URL to Sony and get those bastards sued.

Now theres an idea.  I did a little digging and unfortunately the domain is registered under "Protected Domain Services" which is a scumbag company that protects quasi-legal profit websites.

Also: I've looked into what they are offering and it TECHNICALLY isn't illegal, in the same way Bittorrent isn't illegal.  They don't actually provide any material, just the software and some how-to information on how to turn your PS3 into a P2P machine.

Pretty lame for $50.
