Wii Fit is certainly selling well considering how much it cost (twice as much as an ordinary game). I'm sure the sales will pick up after a price drop.

Considering the metric ton of marketing it has, that's to be expected.
It seems to almost be a foregone conclusion that it will pass the PS3 this year. Think about it: Wii fit was just released last year and it isn't that far behind the PS3 already.
Nice thread. If sony doesn't cut the ps3's price soon I think it's possible for wii fit to pass it.
Edit (Added):
I'm pretty sure wii fit won't be getting a price cut. Why would they reduce its price when it's selling so well.

The only way for Wii Fit sales to spike significantly is if Nintendo produced significantly more of them.

Due to the recesion and financial concerns at Sony I can't see a price cut until at least late 2009 if not until sometime 2010.
Because of this WiiFit should pass the PS3 sometime mid 2009. The PS3 will probably reovertake WiiFit after a price cut.
Yep, this is still a good thread. Full of terror and whimsy.
Now I'm mostly interested in what has the better long-term potential between this and Mario Kart Wii, though.

Last week it was “MarioKart DS” and "More Brain Training" (DS) fall to WiiFit. This week WiiFit slides past “GTA: Vice City” (PS2) by 70K units.
Right now WiiFit is just 373K units behind “Pokemon Yellow” (GB), but it only sold 347K units this week. I believe we are seeing this year with WiiFit what we saw last year with the Wii. The January supply was expressed ship to be able to sell in December. I expect the numbers for WiiFit to begin to recover next week, so I give WiiFit a 70% chance of passing “Pokemon Yellow” (GB) next week. But it will be close.
