On one hand I can't understand how Jackson can't get hyped for Killzone 2, I think it looks fun.
On the other hand, I can't see why the hell everyone is so up in arms over Jackson's OPINION.
OOOOOOOOOOPIIIIIIIINIIIIIIIIIOOOOOOON...
Get it?

@Jackson
Well it's good to know you in fact DO have a soul! I keed I keed :D
I think of many of the projects we've seen out there, if your going to allow yourself to become uber hyped, I don't see why this one isn't worthy :P It's got pretty lights and explosions ^^ and sometimes that's all it really takes to get one hyped :P If anything, it WILL make THE showpiece for your PS3. So even if it's just got nice graphics and nothing else, you still get to smear it in to all your 360 owning friends ^_~
From 0 to KICKASS in .stupid seconds.
Good good... It's been a long time since I was excited by a FPS on console.

I wonder if those 360 fanboys (and other PS3 tech doubters) feaverishly comparing and hyping very minor porting differences (due to tech differences, due to development being lead on 360) now feel like eating crow when watching such videos.
IMO many of the attacks on people trying to point the potential of the PS3 hardware were completely unfounded. These videos should demonstrate this well enough.
I think Killzone 2 may have a similar effect as the Shadow of the Beast had on the Atari ST vs Amiga wars.

Released 3 years after the launch of the original Amiga, this game ended all Amiga vs ST tech arguments and we all lived happily ever after, with Amiga 500 games reaching new highs every upcoming year leaving ST gaming in the dust in terms of quality, despite early ST to Amiga ports were slighly worse to nearly the same a bit later (apart from much better audio on the Amiga).

All of their first party studios use their own proprietary engines, and they share tips and tricks with each other to make the most out of each engine (for example, Naughty Dog received help from Guerrilla to decrease the flickering shadows in Uncharted). Evolution Studios haves their own engine for MotorStorm (MotorStorm was the first ps3 game to have dynamic shadows on every object in the game, fyi), Sony Liverpool have their own engine, Sony Santa Monica have their own engine, etc. etc. I fully expect Uncharted 2 and God of War III to at least match Killzone 2 in most areas, if not surpass it. |
Please stop .... graphics surpassing this might make me commit suicide , killzone 2 graphics already have me teary eyed.

Sounds like they are using the SPUs well regarding AI for this game.
