Bahh I don't want my movies to be some damn file on a computer, I want the physical thing.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

Nice. You found an old article from before Blu-Ray sales picked up for the Holidays. From all indications Blu-Ray is doing well this holiday season. It is amazing how things can change in such a short amount of time.

Amen... worst case scenario is the disc gets scratched and I have to shell out another 10-15 dollars for another copy.

With dowloading stuff on computer, computer gets f*ed, you get f*ed

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

Download problems are already glaringly evident from the crappiness of Itunes.
Thousands upon thousands of people have been locked out of songs they legally purchased because of Itunes or Ipod failure.

I think there is two problems with blu-ray... Price of device and price of content.

If DVD Devices and Blu-Ray discs cost the same why would you not buy blu-ray?

The fact is, people are not willing to pay a premium for the device and people like myself that have well over 800 DVDs at home are not willing to pay $10 more for a blu-ray movie. I like the technology, like the features, but I am unwilling to pay more to watch/use them? Definately not. Until the price of the devices are closer to DVD (sub $100) and the movies cost the same as DVD ($20-ish) blu-ray will struggle.

oh yeah blu ray is dead just like the dvd was in 1998... oh wait =X

i have to agree, i have a fantastic upscaling dvd player and i can stream hd movies thru netflicks

why do i need blu ray when i can get almost as good now with out having to shell out tons of money

with hard times coming for most of the world this format will quickly e seen as an extra and not a necessity

Amen.  They lower the cost of the movies and they might see some real gains.

I think the costs of the hardware can be slightly higher than a DVD player as it is a "premium" player.  But paying a premium for the player AND a $10 premium for the movies is dicking you twice, and will limit the number of Blu-Ray movies I'll buy.

^they need to realize the bulk of the money they could receive isn't from the market that thinks his is really cool, its from teh hundreds of thousands that go to walmart insted of best buy

its the masses they need to reach not a niche
