Forums - Sony Discussion - R2 Ending Discussion ** SPOILERS **

Hale is not dead. If he didn't die when Daedalus speared him in the stomach, he isn't going to die from a gunshot wound to the head.

I think that R3 will focus on the war between the Chimera and the Cloven. It will be an epic battle with the fate of the Earth hanging in the balance. Ultimately, Hale will sacrifice his life to provide mankind a final chance to live in peace. Or some crap like that.

I really don't care about the story, as long as they double the size of everything in R3.

Thanks for the input, Jeff.

I actually hope we get to play as Capelli. He's a complicated character with an interesting backstory (Project Abraham has the details). It'll be hard to top the ending, but I'm sure Insomniac's fiendish minds will come up with something.

I have to say, Insomniac really, really, REALLY nailed the atmospherics of R2. The more I think about it, the more I realize how hard it must have been for the design team to show less, in order to say more.

I mean, we could've seen ten thousand Chimeran battle cruisers and twenty cities go up in smoke, but all we needed to see was the SF shoreline being pulverized. Anything more would've been redundant and killed the shock of that initial moment (kind of like how Godzilla needs only one Tokyo). They could've thrown dozens of padded escort missions and annoying vehicle driving sequences at us, but that would've killed the sense of pulse-pounding doom and the incredible, faster-than-light-speed rush of the four-minute ending sequence (which even had a sneaky Bioshock reference... watch the hands!). They could've given us the same old crappy the hero-drives-out-of-burning-wreckage-without-a-scratch ending we've seen 10,000 times before.

But they successfully resisted (pardon the pun) the FPS-expansion-pack virus to the very end. No cliches, just pure adrenaline. The result is the single best shooter of 2008 (sorry, Gears fans, Gears 1 was slightly better than R1, but R2 takes the crown this time around).

So are we going to agree that the large object at the at the end was a planet with a HUGE chunk missing.

This could have been caused by the grey tech since in the intel

a.) suggests certain grey tech can send transmissions/transport almost instantaneously

also milikov (sorry for spelling) thinks the towers create a field to transport objects across space

thus planet apears

b.) some grey tech makes a supder duper computer that is able to calculate outragous things fast

p.s. sony should be worried since it kicks the cell's ***

bot this would be able maybe to provide the nesscessary calculations for such transportation to a location

c.) other grey tech creates powerful weapons in one the intels

one blast hurt a bunch of people, they theorized it was 23.7 ketajoules or whatever...

the point is it would blow the crap out of anything

thus the HUGE hole in the planet

so let's see a weapon on earth that destroys other planets + super duper computer for calculating complexalgerithums + teleportation device the can transfer information almost instanteously and move the entire planet =...

the ultimate BFG (he he see doom)

then there is the report of cloven attacking chimera and a mysterious cloven/thing destroying a giliath (really big stalker) by itself, jumping really high

hats off to insomniac in closing some doors I think (Hale) and opening a large number of others

btw I think if milikov is still alive he might do experimentations on hale's body

As my name suggests it took me awhile to getting around to posting...

I'll explain later...

It's possible that Grayson (the main "hero" of Resistance Retribution) has a part in R3.  Possibly even the main character.

Hmmm, I don't know the story for Retribution, does it help to explain whats going on at all ?

I had another look at the ending cinematic, and there are 2 planets that look as though they've been blasted by something (the Death Star comes to mind).  So it would appear to be an alien solar system after all.

@Epoch - Retribution takes place between RFOM and R2. It follows the story of Grayson in Europe.

ok this is what i think !
nathan leads the real chimeran war , because the human race is just a spinoff of the true one (chimera) so get use to it people humans are just recruiters for them yes they will probably be small group of rebelious humans but that wont be the center of the real story
i cant wait to lead the chimerans in the next game , i wonder how scary lookin this other race will be !!??
oh nathans not dead !! did you see is incredible powers towards the end , yes he got shot but that didnt stop him the bazillion times he got shot during the game !!
