Forums - General Discussion - WSJ: Geert Wilders: 'Our Culture Is Better'

I kinda hoped that we could keep this idiot under wraps here to our American and British friends mostly.

He is a fearmongerer indeed and I doubt that he'll ever be part of the cabinet. As it stands now, most cabinets are formed central-leftist/central-rightish because the Christian democrats (centre-right) tend to have the most loyal voterbase. And this party will always shun the PVV.

And as a consideration, one of the most left parties (SP socialist parties) still recieve more seats then Geert, thank god.

He truelly is a one issue party, concerning foreigners and muslims in particular. All other ideas (animalpolice - really) fall flat on their faces. I just hope the Dutch populace wises up at some point, and see that we need wise men with at least one title in front of their name to lead us.

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

I largely ignore the musings of Wilder. Politicians similar to him always seem to find popularity with a small segment of society. Le Pen in France is a prime example of this.

I'm an agnostic/atheist, so I have a problem with any religious violence. The problem is that the current devout Muslim philosophy of treating women as second class citizens and using violence to silence dissent puts the Muslim religion about where Christianity was 2000 years ago.

This leaves them open to criticism from people like Geert Wilders. A religion that promotes violence against any critics deserves all the criticism it gets, as far as I'm concerned.

Religion is bad enough, but the ones that attempt to silence dissent are the worst. Muslim's have used violence while Scientology uses money. Both are wrong.

Here in Ameristan, 47% people are clinging to guns and religion in fear that the black guy with Muslim name is going to take them away.

What an idiotic thing to say, implying that anyone who voted for McCain had this mindset.  I could just as easily say the 53% who voted for Obama are clinging to identity politics and socialism for fear the white guy would take them away.  Give me a break.

When you edit out the rest of the post, you kinda lose the joke about me comparing it to a DC comic.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

Ja... maar het liefste zie ik dat kroegen het zelf bepalen wat ze doen... en dat de grote kroegen aparte rookruimtes houden.

Try 500 years ago. The Islam is only 500 years younger then Christianity and changing rapidly. Even in Iran, the young people are quickly becoming more and more moderate despite the iron will of the grand Ayatolla. This moderation speeds up even further as the technology to communicate around the globe increases and people see what other cultures do.

If anything I wouldn't be surprised that, like in Europe is happening with Christianity now, 300 years from now the mosque's are growing more and more empty.
