Forums - Sony Discussion - Wow, the new Prince of Persia got a 9.3? I'm impressed and surprised.

This game is just so damn beautiful.

I was gonna ignore it - despite being a fan of the previous trilogy - but those screenies have just convinced me to buy it.

That game makes me wish I could afford an HD console soooo badly. It's definitely one of the most beautiful games I've ever seen.

Agreed. This is a good use of graphical capabilities. (It is coming to PC though.)

Reviews almost never dissuade me from buying games, because I know what I like and even if something gets slammed, I know what I'm in for and plan on enjoying it. Every once and a while though reviews can persuade me to buy a game I had no intended to. Reading the review of the new PoP game made it something I must buy. It sounds incredible. It leaves behind soooo many gaming mainstays to try and create something more fluid, beautiful, articulate, relaxing and flowing. Combat is rare, death is impossible, button mashing is replaced by calm well timed combos that have to be felt rhythmically. The experience of playing the game is the purpose of playing, beating it is not the priority. This sounds like something I must have and must reward, and that really surprises me.

Why would a good score suprise you? The 3 PoP games before this one got really high scores.

As always, graphics have never made or broke a game for me, however gameplay does. If they managed to deliver platforming the way the other PoPs have done then this game is a definite buy for me, and it seems that it is. The only thing I don't like is that chick. The prince has ALWAYS been alone. Yeah there was Farah and stuff but she never actually worked with you to fight and allow you to directly solve puzzles.

Except for all of those sequences in the first and third games where Farah and the Prince DID fight together.

There's a difference between fighting together and Farah appearing out of thin air to save your ass, which I don't remember happening even once. I want my prince alone vs sawblades, endless holes, booby traps, and other things that spell certain doom; it's how it has been since 1989 and how it should stay.

Funny how I only talked about the fighting then, eh?

And Farah using her magic to save your ass isn't really all that different from the magic of the Dagger of Time saving your ass.

Actually yes it is, the dagger only saved my ass when I rewinded to a certain place, allowing me to fuck up the section over and over until I was out of sand. Doesn't seem like that with Elika around.

Well, if you read the review, you'd see that the addition of Elika was the most highly praised aspect of the game, so I don't know what you're complaining about...
