You don't have to experience rape to understand how serious it is , the physical and mental damage it does to a person is imense . So why is it that people use the world "rape" so casualy "lol he got raped in that last game" or "damnit we got raped in that debate" it's really insensitive to people who have been through that ordeal , it might even give some the impression that rape is acceptable or not a serious an offence as it's made out to be.

You could argued that people say he got "murdered in that last game" and everyone seems to be fine with that but I think that falls in the same boat as the use of the word rape , it's just we've become more de-sensitised.

It's a collection of syllables, like any other. Language isn't set in stone; each word is defined only by what people use it for. What matters is always the meaning: words can obviously have different meanings and in this case "raped" has been adopted as a synonym for "lost in a embarrassing way". People who use the word aren't implying that rape isn't a serious issue. I fail to see the problem.

I think Soleron's post makes a lot of sense. I'm assuming people that use the word in the way you've used them in the examples are not targetting the people that got raped for real. At least, I'm sure it's not the intention here.

Using the rape word IMO is soooo overrated... I hate the fact that many got offended only if I use that word, especially girls... and then they go around and say stuff like " man I would kill that guy".... like WTF?

I know that being raped has to be terrible, but is it the worst it could happen to somebody? Absolutly not. Death, or prosecution from society is IMO by far worse... Yes, maybe I am insensible at this subject, but this is me :P

Conclusion: I will still tell people tons of rape jokes ^_^

I don't use the term much but people using it doesn't bother me. I try to restrict things I spend time worrying about to things that matter. Online tards screaming into headsets don't qualify under that rule.
