Forums - Sales - 75% of Sales Under $250

I read and cannot be bothered looking up that PS2 sold 75% of its hardware when it reached under $250.

lets consider this fact with 360.

however we must adjust the numbers as market has changed and both Sony and Microsofts consoles increased in starting price from last gen.

say if 360 sells 75% under $300 dollars.. and just make it from the last pricecut when the arcade dropped from 300 to 250 and 360 was around 21m units, that would put 360 on track for 85m.

is this possible. i mean it is selling on average ~9m a year. with 3 good years that would put it at 52m lifetime plus a few million crossover sales with the next xbox.

or will sales skyrocket onces arcade hit ~170 and pro ~250 and push it up to sales of 80m+

anyway you look at it Microsoft is looking to at least double to triple their hardware sales and are selling massive software numbers which is phenominal. who knows what they can achieve next generation

"selling massive software numbers"

That's the key really. MS has said they are making a profit on hardware, but its probably really tiny. It's all about the software , live memberships, online store purchases etc that make the real $$ for them from this point on. Once they hit 25 million units, and beat the original xbox number years ahead of time, every console is one taken away from someone else.
