Forums - Gaming - LBP Sales not Doomed and Sony to implement $1m advertisng in Dec

LBP isn't doing badly IMO. It's actually doing pretty good for a new IP, that isn't targeted to the userbase.

They are propably spending the million in Finland only. I don't watch TV much, but the times in the last two weeks i have watched it, about every second commercial is a PS3 ad. 2 LBP bundles and one Motorstorm 2 bundle ad. Sony even paid PS3 and LBP as a task in the big brother -show.

Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.

There is no such thing as doing good for a new IP. A good game sells no matter if it's known or not. This game is doing ok, not more. It's not huge like a lot of people were saying.

How many cups of darkness have I drank over the years? Even I don't know...

@bdbdbd : Same in France, LBP is already heavily advertised. Much more than games who actually sell. When you see a Fallout 3, GoW2 or a Wii Music ad, you see 4 times the Motorstorm 2 ad and 10 times the LBP ads.
Sony is really pouring their money all over Europe in Playstation advertisement right now.

Anyways, LBP is so much advertised that it couldn't have sold less than what it did.

sony needs too spend around 4million on ads, because lbp rocks and more ppl should buy it.

LBP WILL BE ...
sort of a mild success?

PC + Wii owners unite.  Our last-gen dying platforms have access to nearly every 90+ rated game this gen.  Building a PC that visually outperforms PS360 is cheap and easy.    Oct 7th 2010 predictions (made Dec 17th '08)

Has anybody here seen the Macbook commercial, where the Mac guy and the "Vista" guy are talking? Instead of fixing Vista's problems, the Vista guy keeps spending money on what?......advertising.

You can't sell what people don't want to buy, but I guess it at least helps to make them aware of it.

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

Word of mouth will carry this game. Sony is smart to keep marketing this. They potentially have a mascot with universal appeal, something only Maria has right now. It may not work, but it is definitely a smart thing to do.

Sony needs to save the 1 million dollars for something else. The game that deserves a lot of advertising is Killzone 2. I am telling you if that game doesn't sell well, I will be so pissed.

TO GOD BE THE GLORY

Plus is it just me, or is $1m in advertising for all of Europe just not that much? I mean LBP has been one of the most advertised games for the PS3 worldwide, they would have spent many many many times that for all the advertising so far.

TV & print advertising is not cheap.

Are you somewhat subtly bitter that it's not a 360 game?  And Banjo is selling like pancakes right?

For a "NEW IP" it's good considering it's also not a shooter. 0.8m in a month. Not bad! If you're talking about stellar sales I'd got nothing against for such exclusives on 360(Halo, Gears, Fable etc.).

In fact, yes, I'm bitter it isn't on the 360. Banjo is too much of a kid game, LBP also but an adult like me can justify spending some time on it .

you are right about the fact it is not a shooter, but quality plateform game usually do well... so for me the console is responsible, not the game...

Anyhow, I'm sure the LBP-bundle will help.

Evan Wells (Uncharted 2): I think the differences that you see between any two games has much more to do with the developer than whether it’s on the Xbox or PS3.
