Forums - Nintendo Discussion - The Wii Music Defense Squad (WMDS)

I still think Wii Music seems a bit cheapish. I've looked at the songs, and there are many I don't know, and only a few I'm interested in. Far too few songs that seem interesting, and I cannot see why I should buy the game.

Also, how is the multiplayer? Can several people play at once?

The multiplayer is pretty good. 4-player local. The challenge is getting four people playing on the same wavelength. I'm lucky in that all my sisters and brothers-in-law have a musical background, but I still find myself wishing I could assert creative control.

You're definitely right that the music library is the weakest pillar holding up Wii Music. There's a good reason why the melodies are simple, but there are plenty of more popular songs with simple melodies available besides the old folk songs Wii Music leans heavily on. On the other hand, if I let my music snobbery get in the way of enjoying music and rhythm games, I'd hardly play any of them.

Sorry that i reply quite late since i got tons of work to finish. But if you wanna change text then i'll give you this so you can fix it yourself.(Use Photoshop or anything as you want)

Or you also use and old one.(Btw, you can resize easily in ACDsee editor or something else.)

Count me in.

So wait? You can create your own songs?

Technically no. You can only perform the songs listed. Realistically, though, you can do so much with each song that your interpretation of, say, Zelda's Theme will be unique, and may barely resemble the song you selected.

Interesting.....

I wonder why they couldn't of just added a Mario Paint music mode type thing to the game.  Eh well.

I think the reason why Nintendo didn't do that is it takes away the fun/challenge of performing the song.  It is hard to perform the song exactly the way you like it.  If it did have a Mario Paint music editor, then you could just remove/edit your mistakes post-performance.  IMO, that makes the game shallower.

I myself am horrible at photoshop and paint (see avatar)

I like it as it is, but I was wondering if anyone could turn it sideways, but have the text stays upright.

And just mildly scribble out the "R" in rememberance of the typo. ;)

Consider me part of the WMDS!

I got the game at launch and been enjoying it since. While I've always defended it (even though the E3 demonstration was horrible) the game managed to surprise me with its ease of use, depth and creativity. The game really does allow you to do whatever you want with a song!

For example, I tried a little experiment with the song "O Christmas Tree". I made up a story about a boy who receives a toy piano for Christmas, and he becomes a master piano player. The song has three pianos (toy piano, harpsichord and regular piano), each one representing the boy's life and the one song that started his dreams.

I've also done character based remixes. For example, I made a Frank West Mii (Dead Rising) and downloaded a Mii Zombie from the Mii channel. I had Frank sing "September" while the zombies were the band. I then made a remix of "Every breath you take" featuring "The Joker".

Right now I have over 50 videos, and I keep remixing a song each day.

I do believe, however, that it isn't for everybody. Its a niche concept that not everybody will get or even enjoy. It might be too sophisticated for the casual and too shallow for the hardcore. Either way, its a fun little title that deserves more credit than what it gets. A shame, really...
